Our group studies the molecular and systems biology of blood cell development. We focus on T cells and the way they split from other developmental alternatives.

For centuries we've had anatomical maps of how the body's organs are connected, but what would a diagram of the immune system’s connections look like? In @Nature we report our initiative to map the "interactome" that links human immune cells together (1/14)nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

The most important thing is to figure out the experiment that would kill the project (if X is not true, then the whole thing fails). As Shalin states "beg, borrow and steal (from other funded projects)" to get THIS key experiment done.

One of the best compliments I ever got on my bioinformatics work was (indirectly) from Ellen Rothenberg, and what made it good was the staggering depth of knowledge backing it up. No surprise here but big congrats.
I am delighted and extremely grateful to join such a terrific group of scientists in @theNASciences . Thanks to my great lab members, and thanks to the colleagues and reviewers who have been a constant inspiration and who have appreciated, criticized, and improved our work.

We are excited to introduce CaRPool-seq, a new technology that utilizes Cas13 to perform combinatorial single-cell perturbation screens! Check it out, esp. if you're interested in simultaneously perturbing multiple genes and exploring genetic interactions: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This seems extremely problematic. I am almost speechless, but the fatalist in me wonders if this kind of future is inevitable.

Both my Ph.D. and postdoc mentors were men but I have had a few very influential female mentors. Ana Cumano @ana09837244 taught me everything in the lab, and Ellen Rothenberg @evrlab has been a constant champion. Thanks to both of you on #InternationalDayOfWomenInScience
