Does anyone see the logic in leaving your closest market, where you sat at the table making the rules, in order to open yourself to a exporters who follow different standards, and who will kill off your local industries? #BrexitReality #BrexitDisaster

Nope...not for me! ๐Ÿ˜  This years John Lewis Christmas ad, in summary. Nan needs a hug, rude kids barge past her, ignoring her completely. Kids don't like Nans childhood presents, so Nan goes out shopping to John Lewis to buy things they like to placate them. Nan eventually gets her hug, when the spoilt grandkids get the presents they want. Oh, and a rickshaw ride round London for good measure! An absolutely dreadful story of kids attitudes towards the elderly today, and blatant consumerism - I for one, won't be shopping there this year! ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„

This why the BBC is so important, we are so fortunate to have a publicly funded national broadcaster which keeps impartiality at its core. It is also why the likes of Farage want to destroy it. They want propagandist media like fox/GBnews in order to brainwash the masses.
Oh god. I wish I hadnโ€™t seen this.

I don't know about you, but these endless streams of incoherent rambling of mindless self-adoration stopped surprising me a long time ago. What genuinely amazes me though is that there are still people who actually show up, sit there, and listen to this deranged nonsense for hours.
Trump: I could have won the Vietnam War in a week. They kept bombing forests for years instead of going after Ho Chi Minh City.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Ho Chi Minh City was called Saigon during the war. It was the capital of South Vietnam, the US ally, and was renamed only in 1976. The US did repeatedly bomb North Vietnam's capital, Hanoi, including the 1972 Christmas bombing. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ho_Chi_Miโ€ฆ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operationโ€ฆ

Last night Trump said he could have won Vietnam in a week. His plan was โ€œgoing after Ho Chi Minh City.โ€ Ho Chi Minh City was Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. Our ally. The enemyโ€™s capital was Hanoi. We bombed it. He called the presidents who fought that war stupid, then explained how heโ€™d have won it by attacking our own side. 58,220 Americans died in that war. Trump got five deferments. Now heโ€™s telling the rest of us how easy it would have been. Heโ€™s had more than fifty years to learn which side we were on. He still hasnโ€™t. That alone should disqualify him from sending anybody elseโ€™s kids to war. Instead, heโ€™s weighing more strikes on Iran after Tuesday. His administration has reportedly considered using the โ€œmother of all bombs,โ€ the one he calls โ€œlike a tiny nuclear bomb.โ€ The man who thinks we should have bombed our allyโ€™s capital gets to choose the targets.

I have NEVER understood why US voting is such a clusterfuck. In the UK, every primary school, or libaray, or "something", becomes a voting place, and no one ever waits more than a few minutes to vote. For the democratic land of the free, they are in the dark ages for their actual voting....
This is a line to vote in Mississippi. I was just on the Ole Miss campus today and a bunch of Republicans told me theyโ€™re voting blue this year. Theyโ€™re fed up. Something to watch!

The stand off around Polandโ€™s Constitutional Tribunal is about restoring rule of law to an institution which had been politicised by the populist government which lost power in the election of 2023. Its president repeatedly broke the law by steering politically sensitive cases to hand-picked judges. It failed to pass its own budget,
