I wanted to showcase some of the fantastic #WomenInScience that I work with for the @UN_Women International Day of Women and Girls in Science, so I coordinated this video with members of @wic_exeter network - Enjoy! (Follow the link for main video: bit.ly/3tN6p4M) #STEM
Today is #WomenInScience Day! Hear some of the women that make up our science teams discuss their roles, what they love about working in science and if what they do now is anything like they imagined it would be at school age 👉 bit.ly/3tN6p4M

Today @CopernicusECMWF published data for 2023 global mean temperature, showing it was the hottest year on record 🌍
Met Office scientist Dr Nick Dunstone reacts to the news 👇
@MetOffice data will be published later this week alongside international partners

ALT Quote by Dr Nick Dunstone, a Met Office climate scientist, who said: “The extraordinary global heat through 2023 made it possible to signal it would be the hottest year on record well before the year had finished. This level of warming is in line with climate projections. “We expect the strong El Nino in the Pacific to impact the global temperature through 2024. For this reason we are forecasting 2024 to be another record breaking year, with the possibility of temporarily exceeding 1.5C for the first time.”
🌍🌡️2023 is confirmed as the warmest calendar year on record, with a global average temperature of 14.98°C, 0.60°C above the 1991-2020 level, overtaking 2016, the previous warmest year.
