We’ve been looking into ways police officers can reduce tension in interactions with their communities from the start. We find adding just one sentence—what we call a “transparency statement”—can help build trust. Read about our work now in The Boston Globe! 👇🏻

New paper with @IkeMDSilver1 and @deborahasmall just out at Psychological Science:
People often compare bad acts to other bad acts. Is it worse to kill two people than to kill one? Should someone who assaulted an adult be punished less than someone who did the same to a child?
We find that when making these kinds of judgments, the direction of comparison matters.

Excited to see this out! w/ @andreagdittmann and @hannah_birnbaum, we find that construing voting as a duty to others predicts political interest and engagement
As the 2024 election nears, we hope this helps inform voter turnout interventions!

When you see what scholars have done, you see the few things that made it through to publication. Here's one fuller picture of the ratio of successes and failures: My 2019-2023 submissions to @JCRNEWS.
Publishing in marketing is not easy.
Note this is on the tail of publishing two papers in 2018 and 2019 that were finalists and winner of the best paper award, respectively.
