Went to see Harry Enfieldโs show at the Barbican last night. Very funny and it stirred a lot of memories of the old days. If youโve not seen it then go! Youโll laugh a lot fane.co.uk/harry-enfield?gadโฆ

There is so much good, balanced and insightful about the BBCโs football coverage - John Murray, Ian Dennis, Guy Mowbray, Mark Chapman, Gabby Logan, Kelly Dalglish, Alan Shearer and plenty more, including hugely respected voices across local radio, Nick Barnes, Giulia Bould, Adam Blackmore, Nick Godwin and many others. The BBC has good reporters covering Manchester United but a usually excellent websiteโs daily focus on Michael Carrickโs job prospects โ in, out, in out, itโs like the Boat Race โ has become wearisome when the real focus should be more on the Glazers.
They are far more responsible for the systemic mess at United? The Glazers. Carrick may well be out of his depth in a job that has already defeated more famous managers. But heโs faced the challenge, and faced up to the media, with dignity.
All media obsesses about United (see my timeline tbf), always huge news. But the BBC, the national broadcaster, whose values include โthe provision of impartial, high-quality and distinctive outputโ, has to be balanced - and never forget that thereโs a human being in the headlines.

Ashley Young on Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada:
"Weโve asked for an interview and nobody wants to come out and speak.
There has to be someone upstairs that comes out and says what their vision is and if they will back Michael Carrick or go another direction.
They donโt know whatโs happening. If they do make a change with Carrick someone else upstairs will have to go as well." [@primevideosport]

Yelland on the BBC: โOne of the many, many extraordinary things about this crisis is how there haven't been any leaks from within Manchester City.โ
Also Yelland: โI'm not a spokesman for Manchester City, but naturally I speak to friends there as friends do.โ
Also Yelland: โI can tell you 100% for certain, with no fear of contradiction, that the PR people of Manchester City - and anyone externally that's helping them - are not preparing for failure.โ
Which is it @davidyelland?
