Got to collab with the best in the game @tipoffball — his incredible graphics and my words demonstrating why the Trey Murphy buzz is justified. Check it out! 🙏
Why do NBA Teams want Trey Murphy III? 👌🏀 (A thread) In collaboration with @giddhoops

Charles Lee said Naz Reid didn't meet their standards the other night. Very easy Pels PR win to come out strongly on this stuff and not let it fester. So much organizational research behind eliminating toxicity swiftly and decisively. Have to act now.

Send a message. You will probably still lose games, but if you back guys like Herb, Saddiq, Murphy, Missi, Karlo - you are telling people are about the right stuff and can actually start building a culture. Have some real standards.

Fears and Queen, despite struggles, need more investment. Murray and DeAndre Jordan have no future on this franchise and aren't contributing to wins. And look, DeAndre is an awesome vet. Let him play that role! He has no business starting over Queen.

2. Pelicans need to make a hard stand and back the players that actually define their culture and the organization they want to be. Herb Jones, Bey, Murphy - these are the guys that need to be empowered on and off the court. Instead they are the ones sacrificing to other egos

As of today, the Pelicans have the rim lopsided shot diet in the league. No other team is as rim-leaning as them with such a wide gap between that & their 3-point frequency -- a statistical anomaly this season. The last team to have a rim frequency over 40%, the 2020-21 Pels.
Finally back with new words! My explanation behind the Pelicans continued struggle, their basketball methodology (or lackthereof); specifically the root of the offensive issues from a team-building perspective. A ton of fun graphics in this one, link below - hope y'all enjoy!

“Furthermore, there is some internal belief among the Pelicans that they can replicate Jones' defensive impact through Murray and newly acquired Benn Mathurin.“ Dear Lord🤦‍♂️
Herb Jones is averaging just 17 minutes through New Orleans’ first three games, even as the team struggles to close out opponents. His defensive impact, trade interest, uncertain future add to the questions facing the Pelicans. New at In The N.O. intheno.net/herb-jones-caree…

Trey Murphy has two games with fewer than 10 FGA in 4 outings. Last season he had 4 in 66. None of those occurred in the same month.

I see some Troy Weaver chatter on here and while I think he had made some poor moves, the decision to keep this roster intact was Joe Dumars, not Troy Weavers. Weaver would absolutely go in a different direction if it were his choice.

Only caught the last 8 minutes of the Pelicans game, same offensive issues where the ball sticks and rarely crosses the midline. Everybody fending for themselves, disgraceful.

The Pelicans have the strangest cast in the NBA, & it's living proof that basketball is so much more about fit than raw talent. Here's a @dlee4three inspired table emphasizing this team's lack of connective skills & + team-influence... & how that creates shoddy offense.

(and the big news here from Shamit, anyway, is that the Pelicans aren't really taking offers on Herb Jones as it is. Which is fine, but if you're not going to take offers, you should probably play the elite defender you just signed to a large extension)

Interesting 🤨 WDSU video from Pelicans practice Monday, Oct. 26 NOLA Executive Vice President Joe Dumars and forward Herb Jones after the workout. Herb is not starting or closing games and through the first three games (0-3) he's averaging a career low 17 minutes per game.

3 games in and the Pelicans are playing like a bad AAU team with multiple guys only concerned about their own stats. I don't think there's any cohesion, alignment, togetherness or whatever buzz word

There's so many baffling stats and moments from the Pels vs Nugs game - D Jordan gets start for defensive purposes, plays more than Herb Jones while Murray scores 42 - DEN shoots 79% in restricted area - 1 rebound from Zion - Pels 1/17 from 3 in 2H and OT - out reb 14-8 in 4thq

Dumars puppet master, or Mosley is completely oblivious. Both are bad.
Really hard to overstate how bad of a job of game managing is going on with Fears, Murray and Mosley right now. Pels getting super lucky Nuggets missing shots and FTs
