Tonight, I spoke with President Trump and DHS Secretary Mullin about the shooting in Marble Hill. I expressed outrage on behalf of New Yorkers and urged them to halt ICE enforcement operations in New York. I also asked that any body camera footage of the shooting be released to the public so we can establish the facts and get to the truth.

New Yorkers are outraged tonight. Immigrant communities are terrified. And we are demanding answers. There is still much we don’t know about what happened in Marble Hill. But initial reports indicate ICE agents fired into a vehicle with a five-year-old child inside. Any trained law enforcement officer knows how easily that could have ended in tragedy. By the grace of God, that child appears to have escaped without physical injury. No child should ever have to experience the terror of gunfire, let alone wonder if they’ll make it home alive. As a mother and grandmother, I cannot imagine how frightening those moments must have been. New Yorkers have witnessed far too many acts of violence by a rogue federal agency and untrained agents that operate with impunity. Federal authorities need to provide answers, and they must do so immediately.

Tonight, I signed an executive order appointing Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor in the Cornell sexual assault case. New information has raised serious questions about how this case was handled, and I’ve lost faith in the Tompkins County DA’s ability to fairly oversee it. The young woman at the center of this case deserves to know that every fact will be examined and justice pursued.

The allegations in the Cornell University sexual assault case are nothing short of horrifying. For any student to come forward after an experience like this takes extraordinary courage. No student should ever be left wondering whether the institutions meant to protect them will listen and act.   I support the district attorney’s decision to reopen the criminal investigation. But there are also serious questions about Cornell’s campus culture and its systems for prevention, reporting, and response.    That is why I am calling for outside counsel to conduct a transparent, independent review of the university’s response to determine whether Cornell met every obligation to protect its students and pursue justice.

I’m declaring a State of Emergency for Nassau, Suffolk, New York City and Westchester as this powerful coastal storm bears down on the region. We’re expecting dangerous coastal flooding, strong winds and potential power outages through the weekend. Take this storm seriously. Stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and text 333-111 for realtime updates.

September 11th, 2001. A beautiful morning gave way to unfathomable tragedy. Twenty-five years later, the world has changed. But we will never forget those we lost, those who survived, and the families forever changed. A special thank you to Steve Buscemi, a former FDNY firefighter who returned to serve after the attacks, for lending his voice to this video.

Jillian, Monica, Josephine, and Joseph were just children when they each lost a parent on September 11th. They turned unimaginable loss into service. Twenty-five years later, they are showing us what it truly means to never forget. Read their stories: nypost.com/2026/09/10/opinio…

Twenty-five years ago, everything changed. This is dedicated to the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and to the lives we lost and continue to lose to World Trade Center–related illnesses. We will never forget.

Division should not prevail over the spirit of unity that brought us together after September 11th. On this 25th anniversary, we should honor those we lost by coming together again as New Yorkers and Americans. The Mayor of New York City will be there, as he should be.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he will attend New York City's annual 9/11 remembrance ceremony Friday despite mounting criticism from some family members of victims and several prominent Republicans who have called on him to stay away. abcnews.link/EIoP9eA

I was a guest in a Muslim house of worship and showed respect for the people who welcomed me. That used to be standard in this country before you came along. I’ll never apologize for treating people of any faith with dignity, no matter how Islamophobic you and your enablers are.
