phones are just invulnerable now. you can throw your caseless iphone at the concrete and it does nothing but add a couple scratches on aluminum finish. cases just don’t matter.
wonder when timelines become short enough that I should take the case off of my phone

im curious how the cold war would have gone if both sides had like much better surveillance on each other. like what does geopolitics game theory look like if you have an efficient and scalable way to track ~everything the other government is doing.

the media has never been less controlled than it is today. the government has never been more beholden by the will of the people. the past two decades has seen the american elite lose its grip on power, forced to adapt or die to the most annoying whims of the american people.

every involuntary social interaction i have to endure is a policy failure. i should be able to run 100% of my life via an app.

i feel like im the only person who just straight up loves atomized liberal societies. the fact that ~none of my material needs require any degree of interpersonal trust with my counterparty is a triumph of modern civilization. the commune is the most tyrannical social order.

i feel like america society just needs to planemaxx. 4 door boarding, airport near the city, go way more yolo with how tight you pack the takeoffs. amtrak being time-competitive with the 500mph mechanical bird is deeply embarrassing.

you can experience a limited version of this by just not being a coward and arriving at the airport when boarding starts

they spent all this time making the aspect ratio of all content wider so phones were easier to use with one hand and now they make it chonky. i don’t get it.

Half a million views, tons of right wing posters like this one going "when we talk about cultural compatibility it's not some hypothetical issue", and no one asked "is that letter entirely AI generated" (yes) and "is it in fact almost the exact letter you get if you say 'generate a fake HOA letter telling me to stop smoking brisket' (yes), "would a first class letter dated Saturday October 17 arrive in time to complain about it bright and early Monday morning" (no), "is the letter consistent with Arizona laws around notice periods" (no), "how many HOAs in Arizona have a nuisance provision 8.4" (5, according to ChatGPT), and "do any of them employ a Marjorie" (no). Now, of course, this isn't dispositive. It could be that the HOA used ChatGPT to make the letter, and wrote FIRST CLASS MAIL on it (which is what ChatGPT does by default when prompted to generate an HOA letter about smoking brisket) but then delivered it the normal way you would do so in an HOA, by hand. It could be that the HOA works on Saturdays. It could be that they just don't list their staff. But my present perspective is that, for all the excitement that Dr. Josh Simmons's letter has caused on X, cultural compatibility might still be a hypothetical issue. chatgpt.com/c/6ad8277b-9870-…
When we talk about cultural compatibility it’s not some hypothetical issue. What we can and cannot do in public, or even in private, is informed by our cultural upbringings. If you’re raised in a culture that views killing and eating cows as a sin, an evil, then having smoke from its cooking waft into your house is not only annoying and unpleasant, but deeply offensive. That culture is incompatible with one that enjoys grilling. There isn’t really a compromise here. One side will get what they want and the other won’t. It is a win-lose situation. The more you import different culture, the more of this conflict you create.

we need to bring back the word “man”. like as a word for our species. it just sounds cooler than “humanity”
