Labour just delivered the least eco-friendly budget in decades by approving new oil and gas fields while slashing billions from incentive schemes to install solar panels, heat pumps, and insulation. They're also promising huge welfare cuts for the poorest people in this country.

Cllr Sahu says: “I joined the Green Party as I was dedicated to tackling inequality and improving the environment, but I no longer recognise the party I joined.” She says Labour under Andy Burnham now offers a home for her values, adding: “I have never felt more hopeful.”

The guys who did this in the UK got Lordships and are regularly invited on TV to talk about arresting their political enemies.
I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.

interesting theory, theres actually a whole book about this if you want to read more on it, read "Dune" by Frank Herbert
One of the coolest theories I’ve come across is that Paul Atreides was never truly the Kwisatz Haderach the Bene Gesserit intended—he was a rogue variant who forced the path open too early, and the real one (or the one who could have walked the Golden Path without becoming a tyrant) was always meant to emerge much later. The idea is that his prescience locked the universe into a narrower, more violent timeline, which is why Leto II had to take the extreme measures he did to force humanity off that track. It also ties into the theory that the sandworms themselves are a kind of living archive of ancestral memory—each worm carrying fragments of the consciousness of every Fremen and every previous God Emperor who was absorbed into the spice cycle. So when someone takes the Water of Life, they’re not just accessing their own genetic memory; they’re briefly plugging into a planetary-scale consciousness that has been evolving for millennia. Makes the whole ecosystem feel even more alien and deliberate.

1. Key advisers in Burnham's Labour indicate continuity with the Mandelson, McSweeney and Starmer direction. Also an eye-watering number of links with lobbyists and big corporations with vested interests, such a private water, private health and big tech.

It’s funny that Labour launched a coup against their leader, who was also prime minister, and no one talked about a civil war isnt it.

There need to be some very serious questions asked about this @andyburnham very few people in the UK tech industry would think this sort of spend on a CRM is justifiable. If it does need to be spent then the money should be going to the UK SME sector, which is more than capable of delivering on this. However it won't do, it'll be spent on Salesforce and no doubt one of the major consulting firms that take all the HMG work, they will fail to deliver a working system and the bill will double or triple. I absolutely guarantee it.
HMRC's new customer system will cost somewhere between £1.7bn and £4.4bn. Give or take £2.7bn. Bold to buy software like it's 2015. The entire sovereign AI fund is £640m.

A reminder, We are in the longest period of wage stagnation since the Napoleonic Wars. At the same time corporate profits are going through the roof. It isn't a cost of living crisis. It's a robbery by our ruling class.

Poland’s constitutional crisis in brief: A 'far-right', pro-NATO government flooded our highest court with loyalists. Now, a 'center-right', pro-NATO government is replacing those appointees with its own loyalists. Each accuses the other of being ‘communist’.

The economy is absolutely fucked. Everywhere wants to pay minimum wage. Skilled jobs are earning very close to minimum wage. Rent under £1000 a month won't exist soon. A full tank of fuel is costing £100. Weekly food shop for one is around £80. Going out for a meal or having hobbies costs a fortune. We're absolutely finished.

Our ruling class are telling us that after fifteen years of wage stagnation and rising prices, we have to have another decade of the same. We are the fifth largest economy on earth. If there is no money left, where has it gone?

The Times has published 0 stories about an Oxford lecturer who was recently charged with child porn offences. Coincidentally she is also a right wing journalist and Michael Gove's girlfriend.

Recognition from fellow journalists is much appreciated as this is undoubtedly a difficult and polarising story, with a tragic outcome. Many people still do not accept its legitimacy but it was an important public interest story which sparked public debate about key issues of our age timeshighereducation.com/opi…

It’s almost like they are trying to have an ‘Event’ without any specific incident, just a purely simulacral sense of eventness to occasion a state of emergency for whatever end. Of course, I’m not naive nor new, this is the pervading despair and anxiety on which modern governance

Earnest take: I think it’s probably not healthy for the practice of democratic self-government that so many people have developed strong rooting interests in elections in countries they don’t live in.
