Going forward, can we build a SCHISM-proof Presbyterian Church? My observation is that our way out will not be through General Assemblies, Synods and Presbyteries - from top, down action. Instead, in our post-Christendom American context we have to rebuild life in the local church. We could begin with how we talk about and honor vows: Membership, marriage, the service of officers, and so on. By all means, let's get to the truth of how we became the "Split P's", but let's - dare I say - covenant to build a schism-proof Presbyterian future through the essential ecclesial habits of faithful life in the local church. I think this is part of the future that .@james_d_baird is speaking about in this clip:

It's the Lord's Day. Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, breaks the bonds of Satan, sin, and death that we cannot break ourselves. Come before Him with thanksgiving and give Him the honor that is His due.

Amen. Get out ahead of this and tell your people you don't use AI in the writing of your sermons. This is especially important for Protestant pastors with our high view of what happens through the sermon.
Pastors, Grab a pencil, some paper, your Bible, and a commentary. Then write your sermon. Resist AI.

I don't know how you solve this problem without a Presbyterian ecclesiology of some sort.
Former Hillsong NY pastor Carl Lentz mocks people who say "the best thing to do to overcome infidelity is to never have it," says most marriages that experience infidelity should NOT be saved, and that it's RIDICULOUS to suggest otherwise.

Contrary to popular anti-Calvinist propaganda: “The rulers of Geneva were not about to permit Calvin to determine the course of the [Servetus] trial…Heresy was a capital offense, but Calvin did not want Servetus to die.” —Bruce Gordon

Ergo, Father Jean would say, "Baptisez vos enfants!" "For the unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife, and the unbelieving wife is made holy because of her husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy." 1 Corinthians 7:14

God is not forced to provide another infallible authority to account for literacy rates. Maybe figure out how to teach people to read like Protestants did.

October belongs to the Puritans, and by the end of the month, Anglicans will beg for our practical divinity to wash away the errors of their via media...
As a high-church Anglican, it is my duty to regularly hate on Puritans. I will continue until morale improves.

Avoid becoming such a person: "... having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." 2 Timothy 3:5
I pray for revival but I fear that what you're witnessing is Oswald Spengler's second religiousness Returning to Christianity because your society can't function without it is better overall but it shows a lack of vital spirit A religion of utility is no religion at all

Martin Luther said that after years of training in Catholicism it was simply the book of Romans that set him free and helped him finally understand the Gospel. It can do that for you too. Study Romans! Countdown to Reformation Day - 18 Days

Seneca warned that Rome’s bloody spectacles corrupted the people who watched them. A civilization erodes when it cultivates an appetite for executions as a form of entertainment. Secretary Hegseth’s plan to livestream the Fort Hood execution risks feeding that appetite. The victims deserve justice administered with solemnity. Broadcasting a death diminishes us and is not an effective deterrent. I urge him to reconsider.

Christ's Kingdom is advanced through the local church, by a local pastor, in concert with Elders and Deacons. Read Gilead by Robinson. Up for that? Seek the Lord and the confirmation of his people. Then love and serve the 30, 50, 100 souls committed to your care, who are "as precious to God as any upon the earth" (William Still) for 40+ years.
Carl Trueman on the dangers of the celebrity pastor. This is from 10 years ago now, but is still relevant. It may not be as critical of an issue as it was at the height of the YRR movement and the conference circuits, but there still are individuals who command significant influence — most of their sway these days just comes from podcasts, social media, YouTube, and maybe books, as opposed to the conference circuit model from before. And it’s good that men are gifted and influential, but as Trueman points out, there are dangers in that come with that. Trueman highlights two main issues:  - an aspirational model of ministry that is increasingly nothing like what aspiring ministers are actually going to experience in ministry - worldly categories of success instead of faithful categories of success He said he remembers asking students at Westminster Theological Seminary: “Who's been the most influential preacher in your life?” He said, “Almost never do they actually say, ‘Well, it's the man who preaches at my home church.’” Lots to chew on from this clip, but it’s an issue that hasn’t gone away.
