The reason Elvis never performed in the UK, or internationally aside from Canada, is really weird.
Elvis died knowing that his manager - Colonel Parker - was from the South of the USA.
In fact that was not true, Colonel Parker was really called Andreas van Kuijk, an illegal Dutch immigrant, and was so afraid his cover would be blown he avoided leaving North America. He kept an iron grip on Elvis, even though Elvis wanted to see the world.
Bloke on Channel 5 News: "Elvis never performed in the UK, even when he was alive." EVEN when he was alive? #5News

Freedom of movement, in a wonderful one-minute nutshell
👏 @MarinaPurkiss
To everyone getting their knickers in a twist…
All because @andyburnham suggested a sensible conversation about freedom of movement
…do you perhaps need reminding of this?

You couldn't make the West Wing today as the idea of a moral, ethical and intelligent President would be laughed at.

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone."
He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population."
He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory."
"They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this."
He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."
Two in the morning is for die hards! Thanks for the comments. We're having fun making it!

Just listened to episode 3 and 4. Really enjoyed, I love how either of you isn't afraid to be a little controversial at times, very refreshing. Plus you can see how the personalities are growing together as a team. But no, I wouldn't be doing a listen along. 😉

Neither Cartier-Bresson, Banksy nor Cold War Steve could have come up with such an image. Absolutely perfect composition and lighting (even the road signs are perfect)! 😍

In 2021, the SNP recognised the need for reform of Scotland’s law officers.
We don’t need another review to tell us what we already know, there is a conflict of interest in the Lord Advocate’s dual role.
We have long called for an independent Director of Public Prosecutions.
Episode 2 of the Country Collective Podcast is out in the wild. I’d be delighted if you gave it a listen! open.spotify.com/episode/3GB…
Spotify has very kindly made me a “for you” playlist. Sadly it includes Queen, an act that I (probably uniquely) don’t like much.
Thanks but no thanks!
