BREAKING: A panicked carriage horse was nearly hit by cars on 10th Ave Thursday night. The Hell’s Kitchen resident filming has seen carriage horses collapse and die before and knew something was wrong. What followed was reckless incompetence by the drivers.
The drivers did the exact opposite of proper emergency protocol: they whipped him and tried to force him forward while he remained hitched with dozens of vehicles whizzing past, instead of immediately unhitching him and walking him to safety.
At any moment, this panicked horse could have spooked and bolted down the street, causing another tragedy. He cannot be allowed back onto the streets and needs an immediate independent veterinary examination. These drivers must be investigated and held accountable.

Fall migration is happening! Last night was the biggest wave yet, with more than 1 million birds passing over Queens alone. This usually means a lot of new arrivals in the city, and a lot of window collisions.
This is a lovely blue-gray gnatcatcher, stopped by a window in midtown on his way to Florida or Central America.

Here is an update on the George Washington Bridge pigeon netting over the last 2 days. My thanks to Cathleen and Pat from @PANYNJ for scrambling emergency services in an hour to help this trapped baby, along with Tess, Nabeela, & Diana who came out to rescue this little dinosaur.
Tonight I was told by a local rescuer, Tess, of yet another baby in the GWB netting. We alerted Pat & Cathleen at @PANYNJ who sent emergency services out within the hour to rescue the baby. Pat did the rescue personally on his night off! Thank you all for making this happen!
This is just a small amount of the babies that were removed from the George Washington Bridge. They were taken to the @wildbirdfund. In total they took in nearly a dozen babies and sick birds. Please visit their site and donate money for the care of these now orphaned babies.
Today brought some good news at the GWB pigeon netting. My thanks to @NYCMayor @ZohranKMamdani and @AllieFeldman212 for their tireless help, and @PANYNJ for helping make this morning's rescue a reality! There is still work to be done!
