We at @DiffusionVC are proud to back Parallax in its $117 million round. Power will soon be the bottleneck to the progress of AI. You can stand up 100,000 GPUs in months. The gas turbines to run them take years. The reason is a design choice made decades ago. Gas turbines were built for utilities and jets, where fuel is the dominant cost over a 30-year life. So the entire industry optimized for efficiency: exotic alloys, extreme temperatures, a core with more than 2,000 parts, and a specialty supply chain that can only build so many per year. Parallax designs turbines optimized for throughput. Smaller units (about 10 megawatts), a 3-D printed core that collapses 2,000 parts into a handful, lower combustion temperatures so it can use common materials and the aerospace supply chain, and a footprint that fits in a shipping container. Parallax is one of Diffusion's core investments, alongside Eclipse, Lux, Founders Fund, Greylock and General Catalyst. First prototype this year, customer deliveries in 2028.
Today we’re launching Parallax, the AI energy company with a $117m fundraise led by Founders Fund, Eclipse, Lux, Diffusion, Greylock and General Catalyst. (1/5)

We’ve raised $550M at a $15.5B valuation, led by @DiffusionVC and @LightSpeedVP. We’ve crossed $400M in ARR and serve 3,000 customers, including 80% of the top 100 law firms, 20% of the Fortune 500, and half of the Fortune 10. We are investing the capital from this round into our two most important resources: people and compute. Our product is expanding into new verticals and more specialized solutions for areas like contracting, litigation, deals, and compliance. As usage grows, we’re investing heavily in inference and model training to deliver frontier legal intelligence at the best possible price. Building on Tenet, our first model post-trained on open-weight models, this round will let us scale the compute and data behind future generations of our models. We believe the most successful application-layer companies will become full-stack AI companies, building across applications, agents, and models. Becoming a full-stack AI company will help our customers own more of their intelligence and build their vision of a frontier legal organization. We’re also grateful to @Sequoia, @KleinerPerkins , @A16Z , @CoatueMgmt, @Conviction, @EladGil, Evantic, GIC, @GoldmanSachs, Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock for participating in the round and backing that vision.
We’ve raised $550M at a $15.5B valuation co-led by @lightspeedvp and @DiffusionVC. We're using this funding to help law firms, in-house legal teams, and professional services build and own their intelligence.

We @DiffusionVC are co-leading @Harvey’s $550M Series H alongside Lightspeed. I first invested in Harvey’s Series B in 2023. Since then, several things have changed. The company has evolved from an AI assistant into a platform that handles complex legal work from start to finish. And its customer base has grown to over 3,000 organizations, including 80% of the Am Law 100 and five of the Fortune 10. Its in-house business is growing rapidly, as Harvey helps its customers own their intelligence. What hasn't changed is @WinstonWeinberg and @GabePereyra’s relentless focus on building the defining AI company in the $6 trillion professional services market. We're betting that the next chapter will be the biggest one yet.

There's nobody I'd rather have on my side than @saranormous. Intensely competent, generous with her time and reputation, and genuinely kind. She tilts the odds in favor of anyone lucky enough to be in her circle colossus.com/article/sarah-g…

What @harvey is building is so important and useful that a single law firm is spending $500m to build their own version of it

Today we're sharing our first research collaboration with @baseten on open-weight legal agents. Using signal from LAB (our Legal Agent Benchmark of 1,200+ tasks across 24 practice areas), we post-trained an open-weight model to match closed-source frontier performance. Training open-weight agents for legal creates three major advantages for Harvey: 1) Cost and latency improvements: The best-performing closed-source frontier models took an average of 22 minutes to complete each LAB task, with $50 per-task average inference cost. Open-weight inference is substantially faster and cheaper. 2) Reasoning visibility: In a high-stakes domain like legal, it's incredibly important to get visibility into agents' internal reasoning states - for audit and governance and also as a lever for Harvey to improve agent performance. Closed-source foundation model providers avoid exposing raw reasoning tokens via API to prevent model distillation. For Harvey, that visibility is a major advantage. 3) Custom training: Owning the model weights lets us customize training and modify architecture. One example: our blog’s final note on training a custom KV cache compactor. More to come on our research collaboration with Baseten.

Most VCs wouldn’t touch Anthropic in 2023. Yasmin Razavi did. The Spark Capital partner led a $450M round when Anthropic had no public product, no revenue and a massive capital need. Now the AI giant’s rise has landed her on the Forbes Midas List for the first time. forbes.com/sites/iainmartin/… (Photo: Guerin Blask For Forbes) #ForbesMidas

Congrats @mcmiller00 - incredible news. Excited for you - and thrilled to keep working together
I am excited to share a bit of news. After an incredible 12 years with Sequoia, I have made the decision to start my own fund focused on the great founders of Europe. It has been a dream of mine to be an entrepreneur again and I am excited to build something specific for this region that I love. I am forever thankful to have been part of the best investment firm in the world and am so appreciative to everyone at Sequoia. I will have a period of transition where I will work as a Venture Partner and serve on Boards while I firm up the specifics of what is to come next. I couldn’t be more proud of the Sequoia presence here in Europe. I am excited to see the amazing things Luciana, Anas and the rest of the team will do next. I look forward to finding great ways to collaborate with them in my next adventure.
