1/ Vibe coding with GCSE pupils!
We brainstormed features we'd like to see on our GIS app, based on the pupils' experiences using GIS so far. Great fo see how much they had picked up of core GIS features - and all included in the #TransformED Geog curriculum.
3/ This is the app Gemini created!
This use of vibe coding is a great example of our knowledge-rich approach to GIS curriculum in action. Because the pupils knew the core GIS features, they were able to apply this knowledge to write the prompt to guide Gemini.

Application task with my 6th form class on different patterns of earthquake focuses at different margins.
Great way to test for understanding & develop skills of being able to apply knowledge to novel situations.
Excellent day @C2k_info Gemini Champions training at Google Dublin. Great AI training update & super to hear from fellow teachers who are pioneering explorations of how AI can help teacher productivity & pedagogy.

It’s nice to read something positive about the new curriculum- there is much to be excited about!
It's #TransformED Day for schools in NI & I'll be presenting at the Dungannon & Cookstown Teachmeet as well as training colleagues in my own school. Exciting to be able toexplore the tremendous potential that a knowledge-rich approach to curriculum offers us in NI!

This is exactly right. The alarmism and panic around screen-time is going to actually harm many students' learning who will be deprived of excellent instruction like this ⤵️

Screens are essential for GIS use in geography lessons. GIS allows learning affordances that paper alone cannot bring. The generic principles of cog sci must be applied in subject sensitive ways.

In which we explore how teach-from-the-front is the best way to build the schemas that enable pupils to use GIS themselves.

New blog series: "Probably the first truly knowledge-rich GIS curriculum in the world"
Part 1 explores the GIS Conundrum - given that GIS is ubitquitous in everyday life, why is it proving so hard to integrate into geography classrooms?

"We think with what we already know."
I first came across schema theory in Levitin's book "This Is Your Brain On Music". Schemas help us recognise patterns & manage cognitive load during application tasks eg sight reading.
This video is a great illustration of that in action.
