It was Mamdani's stance on Palestine that made me support him. I knocked on doors in Harlem when Black politicians were endorsing Cuomo, and Black people in Harlem had no idea who he was. I registered people to vote for him. I earned the right to be pissed!

A social worker asked Mamdani if he would fully fund Right to Counsel for New Yorkers facing eviction. He called it a long-term goal while announcing $24M to build another Holocaust memorial and fund school trips to a Jewish museum that teaches Palestinians don’t exist!

What I find striking is the asymmetry on parts of the left. Christianity and Islam are routinely subjected to theological, historical, and civilizational scrutiny: we talk about Christian nationalism, Christianity and colonialism, political Islam, Islamic jurisprudence, and the political consequences of particular religious interpretations. Yet Judaism can suddenly be treated as analytically untouchable, even when discussing Israeli political movements or institutions

Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are not getting the same coverage like Palestine because they are black countries! Also, you guys don’t listen to the people who are actually in those countries because you see their needs and their existence as beneath you.
