Americans expressed sharply divided views over the public health response to COVID-19, things like masking, remote learning, business closures and vaccines.
Five years on from the start of the pandemic, @JudyWoodruff recently sat down with two people on opposing sides of that divide trying to figure out how to move forward as part of her series, America at a Crossroads.

🔊 “unconscionable”
The Afghan de facto authority's decision to ban women Afghan staff from working for the UN, including UNICEF, is unconscionable.
It's another affront to women’s fundamental rights and further undermines life-saving work for children across the country. unicef.org/press-releases/ta…

So proud we are sharing our Adolescent Girls' Programme Strategy far & wide at this week’s #CSW, with a focus on girl-centred, multi-sectoral action to support girls' empowerment, wellbeing & leadership. Our vision: 30 countries, 20 million girls, by 2025. tinyurl.com/3tr66edz
Compared to boys, twice as many girls aged 15 to 19 are not in employment, education or training.
@UNICEF is leveling the playing field, so every girl has the chance to fulfill her potential. Find out how.

The digital revolution is leaving girls behind.
Targeted innovation and skills programmes co-designed with girls, for girls, must be a top priority. #CSW67 #IWD2023

2 brothers from Afghanistan separated at the Afghanistan airport, escaping the war, were recently reunited after months apart. Reunion took place at King’s Cross Station in UK. Effort took months of hard work & exhaustive searching but the family is now together.

Everyone should be
I am extremely concerned by the continued exclusion of girls from school in Afghanistan.
This is deeply damaging to girls themselves & to a country that desperately needs their energy & contributions.
This #DayOfTheGirl, I once again urge the Taliban to let girls learn.
600 million. That’s the number of girls aged 10 to 19 years old around the world.
How has the world 🌍 changed for these and other girls over the past decade? Read our new blog post: data.unicef.org/data-for-act…
