People keep saying Amendment 3 is “simply” a homestead exemption.
There’s nothing simple about Amendment 3.
-It simply removes billions in recurring revenue from Florida cities and counties, hitting some communities far harder than others.
- It simply provides no protection for police and fire budgets, leaving communities to choose between cutting public safety, raising fees, or finding someone else to pay the bill.
-It simply wasn’t modeled before the Legislature voted to put it on the ballot.
-It simply pushes financially fragile communities toward service cuts, consolidation, or dependence on state bailouts.
-It simply shifts costs to fees, assessments, and charges that homestead exemptions don’t protect you from.
-It simply gives renters no direct tax benefit while exposing them to higher housing costs.
-It simply makes affordable housing harder to build by shifting more of the tax burden onto rental and non-homestead properties, while giving communities less financial incentive to approve lower-cost homes.
-It simply makes new Floridians wait till their fifth exemption for the full benefit, creating two classes of homeowners.
-It simply increases the exemption with inflation every year, compounding the fiscal pressure on local governments.
-And it simply transfers power from local communities to Tallahassee. Because when Tallahassee pays the bills, Tallahassee makes the rules.
Amendment 3 is being sold as a simple tax cut. But eliminating someone’s tax bill doesn’t eliminate the cost of government. It simply sends the bill to someone else.
The winners get their tax cuts printed on a ballot. The losers get their bills delivered later.
The question isn’t whether you’ll get a tax cut. It’s whether you’ll end up paying for someone else’s.
My X feed is full of MAGA posting videos of sorority girls dancing in cowboy boots saying the left is coming unglued by these videos. Not in my feed: any reaction at all from the left.
I do think, however, that these vids greatly overestimate the versatility of cowboy boots.
Great time sharing my story with @PouncerAI - thanks for the opportunity!

Appreciate the new followers. Some asked about mentorship. Not really my thing. I’d say this: be great at your craft and learn to sell. One of those you’ll be worse at. Fix that. And then fix it again. And again.
Flipped another digit on @Upwork today. One more “Yay me” post coming when I pass $1M, then I’ll likely stop clock watching. Nearly five years to the day since I made my first dollar on the platform. 98% hourly work. #freelancing #upwork

A few weeks ago, I had a lull and wanted to sell 5 hrs/week. I applied for a gig—but didn’t just answer the prompt. I reframed the challenge and explained how I’d solve it. Then I paid to boost the proposal. 50 applicants and I won it. Two lessons there.
Here’s the craziest part about @ChatGPTapp . It WAS weird last week. And clearly @sama slapped it up aside the head because it got way smarter (to me) today.
20 years ago I worked with a guy whose neighbor was @tmacphils I told him I wasn’t sure about him (we all missed Harry). He assured me Tom was solid. He was right. I think of that conversation often.

If you're an elected Democrat and you don't speak out about Trump's proposal to jail American citizens in a foreign torture dungeon for life, what are you even doing in public office? Why have the job?
