You are completely correct. For two decades the largest science con I'm aware of, has brainwashed an entire generation of scientists working in exercise, metabolism & health. The originators of the defective & oft fabricated data, remain front & centre cell.com/cell-metabolism/abs…

This might be the most economically illiterate and dishonest statistical sleight-of-hand on X. By this exact logic: • The US is an "apartheid state" because Mexican citizens in Tijuana can't vote in US elections. • France is an "apartheid state" because Algerians can't vote in Paris. 100% of non-Jewish Israeli citizens have full voting rights, they vote, run political parties, sit in the Knesset, and serve as Supreme Court justices. The Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza are not Israeli citizens. Under the internationally recognized Oslo Accords (signed by the PLO), they vote for their own government, the Palestinian Authority or Hamas in Gaza. The reason they haven’t voted in 18 years isn't Israel—it’s because Mahmoud Abbas is in year 20 of a 4-year term and cancelled elections out of fear that Hamas would overthrow him and since Hamas was elected in 2007, they stopped elections and moved to a more weaponized approach.. Conflating sovereign citizenship with a foreign population under military occupation isn't profound, Niels-it’s just redefining the word "apartheid" until it loses all legal meaning.

Today I am sharing a new preprint and accompanying blog post. Hundreds of published papers include impossible western blots showing protein expression in cell lines that have deleted or mutated genes. These clumsy mistakes are widespread and repeated by LLMs.

Salman Rushdie never contributed his royalties to a terrorist organization. Sally Rooney was never the subject of a fatwa issued by a foreign leader. Also Rooney is no Rushdie. The comparison is odious but in keeping with the BBC support for the antizionist hate movement.

Strawman, and a pretty plain one. Her books were banned because the proceeds were going to a proscribed group, not due to her political views. Would you be ok if she said she wants all the proceeds to go to ISIS?

Funding a proscribed terrorist organisation doesn’t align with liberal democracy. Or at least it shouldn’t. The same people Rooney wants to support are the same people who would have supported the fatwa against Rushdie.

This guy should be in prison. He single-handedly faked data in at least two high-impact papers. Instead, he got to enjoy the generous salary of a Schmidt Science Fellow, has received zero punishment, and has now simply moved on to pastures anew (writing about classical music). Retraction note for his 2022 Science Translational Medicine paper: science.org/doi/10.1126/scit… Retraction note for his 2023 Nature paper: nature.com/articles/s41586-0… Nature paper he was a middle author on with an editor's note due to possible data fabrication: nature.com/articles/s41586-0… and associated PubPeer: pubpeer.com/publications/292… And no, prison is not too harsh. He's threatened the careers of every other scientist on his papers, stained the institutes he was at & journals he's published in, and has added to growing distrust in science. He's also likely sent many other scientists down unproductive rabbit holes because they believed his fake data were real. All of this also means ~millions of wasted dollars on fake science or science misled by fake science. Lack of punishment = incentive. We need to seriously crack down on proven fraudsters. Prison is entirely appropriate imo.
Science Translational Medicine has retracted a paper on COVID-19 vaccines after an institutional investigation revealed a former Ph.D. student fabricated data. Ng wrote an article on Giacomo Puccini’s opera ā€œTurandotā€ for @nytimes earlier this year. retractionwatch.com/2026/10/…

Sally Rooney can’t sell her books in the UK anymore because she admitted her profits would go to banned group Palestine Action. She’s an awful person who thinks the ā€œliberation of Palestineā€ liberates the ā€œworldā€. Jews are not your problem Sally, you are.

Turns out, it's illegal to give money to a terrorist organisation, EVEN if you're an author. Who knew?

Rooney, writer of romance novels for people who wear keffiyehs and call themselves 'cis', explicitly said she'd give the money from her books to a terrorist organisation. This is one of those rare times when empty virtue signalling actually came with a cost.
If a great Irish writer’s books can no longer be published in the UK because she stands with Palestine, the question isn’t what law might Sally Rooney have broken, it’s what sort of country has Britain become. irishtimes.com/culture/books…

Not sure who needs to hear this but.... An LLM doesn't "understand" anything. It is a statistical model that spews out tokens based on probabilities calculated through massive matrix operations and context, not an understanding of the subject matter.

Unfortunately, this is not true... We get cancer because of DNA mutations (and possibly epimutations): see Armitage-Doll model. Technically, we can say that DNA mutation is part of aging but it isn't possible (or unfathomably difficult) to slow down the rate of mutation accumulation

this isn’t true for example, there were 470 cases of breast cancer/100k 70-74 yr old women in SEER 326/100k 85+ yr old women you can make a case for working on aging but this isn’t it
We get cancer because of aging Go after the root cause

I don't think this design can carry that claim. Self-selected highly active cohort with no control arm. The compromised-health subgroup is n=19 after four dropped retesting. Panel a shows the honest result: everyone declines.

Hopelessly under powered to address the topic - and omg the statistical naivety re the subgroups. Recruitment bias, baseline compromised and a waste of money.
