Watch this space: "Another way to collaborate around revenue is subscription pools. These allow readers to pay for one subscription that provides access to a group of newsletters or podcasts, with revenue split..." @NewmarkJPlus @ambreenali link.medium.com/QgjhrmQKGub
This was a great session...and publishers should also check out the case studies they pulled together, which are interesting , specific but also REALLY nicely designed journalism.cuny.edu/j-plus/j…
A takeaway from @jayclouse just now at this live #JSummit session... Jay likes to ask of a collaborator: "What would make this especially awesome for you?" and asks himself "Is this going to help me with REACH? Is this going to help me with REVENUE?" —live online @NewmarkJSchool

A huge story that is so local: like how @BklynEagle featured local experts on how water overtook their community and what they learned for the next wave: Brooklyn stories from Superstorm Sandy, 10 years later brooklyneagle.com/articles/2…

On a day where @elonmusk is enhancing the worst side of Twitter (negative click-bait/conspiracy mongering), below reminds me there is also good on the platform. I hope Twitter users (you) engage with the good stuff more than the bad as THAT KPI will change what is rewarded.

Astro-turfers (fake grassroots) in local news is another reason we need to enhance reporters and sources that are not pretending to be locals. #INSS22
So Elon Musk has always been a homophobe, but this is bizarre. He's tweeting out a link about Paul Pelosi from“Santa Monica Observer"--the same outlet that reported @HillaryClinton died and was replaced by a body double for a debate with Trump. Shameful. latimes.com/opinion/story/20…

Positive sign: Local concerns can bring blue/red ppl together: “But he has found allies in pro-Trump, S.U.V.-driving volunteers who join him in planting marsh grasses in their neighborhood. They were putting all that energy into protecting their area.” nytimes.com/2022/10/28/nyreg…

So smart @irenemckisson talks about call-to-actions in newsletters, uses furtniture analogy: if same things are always there, like a table, users don’t look at while they go by it. Must change it up. #INSS22

This is a helpful free tool for smaller publishers to format outputs from GA4. Thank you @nberke and @BlueLenaLLC
Greetings from #INSS22 in Austin! I just launched a new free tool that will make Google Analytics 4 SO MUCH EASIER. A plug-and-play dashboard that reframes GA4 data for publishers, and puts in it a more familiar format.

Was inspiring to hear different ways ppl raise funds: including community partnerships with local pubs and local biz…symbiotic relationship beyond just ads. #INSS22
Standing room only for the #INSS22 discussion on serving low-income communities with effective revenue strategies. We are in the capable hands of the amazing and inspiring @Cande313 of @media_outlier and @iolabhinton of @scalawagmag. @LIONPubs @fundjournalism

#INSS22 Publisher positioning insight: Texas Trib tested “non-partisan” and found “independent” resonates better…maybe Texas, but maybe broader….

Until the day that Fed/State govt's underwrite local news with subsidies, or chain-owners lower their profit projections, let's ensure we get people who do subscribe to lots of other things to subscribe to their own "local" institutions where they live, work, play.
