Animals are living creatures that experience fear & pain. Leaving them to suffer & die alone in a storm is inhumane. People evacuate with both their children & pets every year. If you can’t take your pets with you, either leave them with someone else or please do not have pets.
Replying to @GeneralCattis
Some shelters don't allow pets and in the rain aftermath, like with Florence, sometimes those never planning to need to evacuate had to quite suddenly, due to roads washing out, rivers and lakes flooding.
If it's your child's life and safety vs pet, there may be no choice.

Please take your animals with you when evacuating for #HurricaneMichael. Don’t make them ride out this powerful Cat 4 storm afraid and alone.

“No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear.”—C.S. Lewis
Everyone will experience losing someone they love at some point in their life. You don’t have to deal with it alone—please reach out to family, friends, or a grief counselor.💚

I am forever chained
To the time you left;
One clock started
When the other stopped.
But I am not chained
To him, to this.
It’s time to take your memories
And leave this place.
I’ve found some losses bind us,
While others set us free.

I finally washed one of your blankets. I knew it was time. I briefly felt as if I was washing pieces of you away, but I pushed the feeling aside and did it anyway.
The blanket is so soft now and smells so clean. You would’ve loved it.

You’ve been gone one year.
I didn’t think I’d make it,
Yet here I am.
Life, as they say,
Does go on,
Even if your taste for living it
Is gone.

Why is it when I feel even the smallest moments of joy, I feel as if I'm being untrue to your memory?

I never cease to be amazed how this can change during the day. One minute I'm okay, the next I feel as if I'm being crushed. #grief #loss teapawt.org/nowgoingup/status/9175…

At 6 months, my grief is an uneven weight in my soul. Some days I can carry it; others, it's so heavy I can barely breathe, let alone move.
Six months ago I lost you. How can time move so slowly and so quickly all at once? But no matter how it moves, it's not healing anything.💔

I love my new fishie
It's the best fishie yet,
But I haven't forgotten
What they took at the vet.

I still forget.
I see your face on my phone
And can't wait to get home.
Then I remember
It's not home anymore
Because you're not there.
When I'm numb,
I can almost forget to remember
You're not here.
But some days,
Like today,
Every cell in my body
Is on fire with your loss.
I dream of you,
Dancing in the sun,
Blissfully happy.
I awaken alone
In the dark,
Miserably sad I cannot
Join in the dance.

Your strength is your individuality.
Think for yourself--
No one else thinks exactly like you do.
