@pnamblat I realised that "muthumani" song has traces of "oh iniya" (janma janmada anubandha) and "Hrudaya rangoli" (pallavi anupallavi). Especially the line "vanakiliye" is so similar to "oooh iniya".

Instagram censored our own post, a cartoon by @aaaaadvik showing a stand-up set by Pulkit Mani. The post also carried an update on the copyright case we’re fighting for Pulkit pro bono in the Delhi High Court. This is part of a pattern. MeitY’s advisories of 8 and 10 October pushed Meta towards “enhanced due diligence.” Since then, automated takedowns have been the biggest category of requests for help we’ve received. Got a similar notice? Write to [email protected] Follow IFF everywhere, and share this with friends and family. #FreeSpeech #Censorship #DigitalRights #InternetFreedom

when people talk about the importance of keeping physical media alive why is it always commerce driven and we never talk about the importance of the public library

The government has discontinued (for now) selling vehicle data to private companies. Happy Dussehra!
On 22 September 2026, IFF filed RTI applications with MoRTH and NIC asking who has access to VAHAN, SARATHI, e-Challan and PUCC data. NIC’s reply of 16 October discloses that 25,314 credentials were issued to private entities and that 17.08 million queries were run through them in 33 months. It also says private sharing was discontinued from 1 October 2026 on MoRTH’s directions, a decision we have found announced nowhere. (1/8) Read More: internetfreedom.in/who-reads…

It’s absurd how some Northie with a blue tick wanting to make some money off Twitter reverts to bashing local culture & language every fortnight and people lap it up like noobs. Ignoring should be the only answer to rage bait. Do not waste your energy on trivial matters.

Delhi Police spent ₹161.27 crore on 34 signal jammers between July 2024 and May 2026, all bought from the public sector Electronics Corporation of India Limited on a nomination basis, without a tender. Three units of the force have given us RTI replies that contradict each other on what the jammers do and who can switch them on. The only rulebook they have named is one no citizen can read. Replying to @internetfreedom
The specifications require face recognition on every fixed and PTZ camera, face detection on every ANPR camera, built-in microphones on all cameras, and video-management software compatible with the Safe City network. A mobile application streams live video from up to 500 cameras to iOS and Android devices. The ANPR software is specified to read plates at 150 km/h. (4/7)

This is an exhaustive list of accounts from journalists who were either detained, assaulted, or had their equipment damaged by the Delhi Police. There are around 30 accounts in total, with direct quotes from almost all of them. thenewsminute.com/news/over-…

Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) members to wear black ribbon today while appearing in courts as a mark of solidarity with the lawyers who were manhandled during October 10 protests. DHCBA says they are registering their strong protest against the excessive and disproportionate use of force by the police against members of the legal fraternity. #DHCBA #protests

This has to be amongst the most sinister visuals of what is unfolding in Delhi. The police is informed by reporters about unidentified persons in a car with sticks/lathis and yet the car is allowed to drive away! Think about it for a second. A planned peaceful protest against election roll fraud is prohibited because the police cites the fear of violence and invokes a section of the law prohibiting gatherings of more than four people in central New Delhi. The police arrest individuals for speaking to reporters or looking like they are protestors even though they are not raising slogans, carrying placards or weapons of any kind. But when unidentified persons with a horde of weapons in their motor car are spotted hanging around in this prohibited zone, the police makes no attempt to establish who they are let alone detain them. Instead they are allowed, indeed, encouraged to escape! I do believe we are now at the public-private partnershipstage of fascism. With lumpens being given free reign to attack those standing up for democracy.

DCP threatened suspension so the CRPF personnel let him go. Just understand the enormity of what has happened with a MP.
MP John Brittas alleges four CRPF personnel pinned him down inside a vehicle until he struggled to breathe, and released him only after the DCP threatened suspension. He says the person with him was also assaulted. Watch..

Dear Gen Z, You may not know the glorious early years of Modi and Shah. Here's a brief history. Haren Pandya was Modi's home minister when Modi was parachuted in as Gujarat CM in October 2001. Modi wasn't an MLA and had to win a seat within six months. He needed a safe one. Without it, he was sure to lose. His eyes fell on Ellis Bridge, the safest BJP seat in Ahmedabad. Haren Pandya was its MLA. Modi asked him to step aside. Pandya's reply: "I'm ready to give this seat to anyone but Modi." He had known Modi for years. Vajubhai Vala was asked to resign. He obliged, gave up his Rajkot seat, and Modi was in. In March 2003, Haren Pandya went for his morning walk. He was found dead in his car. Five bullets. The story cooked up: terrorists from Hyderabad. It fell apart. The truth is simple. Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his aide Tulsi Prajapati pulled the trigger. Sohrabuddin ran with Amit Shah's extortion racket. The man who gave the contract is no secret. When the UPA took over, the CBI picked up the case. But by then Sohrabuddin and his wife were already dead. Tulsi Prajapati followed, killed in a fake encounter. And the man smiling next to Modi in that photograph? D.G. Vanzara. He carried out both killings. The CBI had audio tapes of Amit Shah. Shah was arrested in July 2011, bailed on one condition: stay out of Gujarat. The case moved to Mumbai. Judge Loya, an honest judge, had all the evidence before him. He summoned Amit Shah repeatedly. Shah never showed up, not once, even in Mumbai. Loya was about to order his arrest. Days later, Loya was dead, in Nagpur, at a colleague's daughter's wedding. He had been offered ₹100 crore and the Chief Justiceship of the Bombay High Court for a favourable verdict. He refused to sell his conscience. He paid with his life. There's more. Read. Remember. This is the gang sitting in the highest seats of power in our great nation.

Will the Chief Justice issue notices to show cause and the personal affidavits of the Home Secretary and the Delhi Police Commissioner as it did in the Ramlila Maidan Judgement in 2012? Hasn’t today’s curfew, detentions, internet shutdown, violence towards protestors and journalists been, “an assault on the very basic democratic values enshrined in our Constitution” ?

The Delhi Police is perhaps even better than the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in its professionalism and honesty. So pure, it needs to be completely disbanded in its present form. We do not deserve these angels with badges.
The right to protest must be protected, but so must the right of a city to function safely. Responsible policing is about balancing both. #DPUpdates #PublicSafetyOurPriority

Uncertainty looms over the main attraction of Mysuru Dasara. Mahendra the elephant that was to carry the Ambari has been ruled out following issues during rehearsals. The jumbo stopped midway while rehearsing with a wooden Howdah which weighs abt half of the 750 kilo golden one.

Two years ago, I got a call from Singeetham Srinivasa Rao —out of the blue — saying he enjoyed Culture Vulture and also another film he had caught… While You Watched. He asked me to pass on his congratulations to @ravish_journo. So when I visited Chennai in August 2025, we caught up at his office for an hour, talking about his writing process without ever having gone to a film school. I told him I wanted to interview him about this at leisure. He needed time to prep. I returned to Mumbai. Months passed and I heard he had finally made Sing Geetham, a film he had tried pitching to a couple of platforms/production houses through me a few years ago. The idea seemed ambitious on paper, but that didn’t stop him from bringing it to life at 94. I featured Sing Geetham in my half yearly review - the best six films of 2026. He texted to thank me, and I thought I’d try my luck again to do that interview on his writing process, at least over Zoom. August 26, 10.30 am. He finally gave me the slot after I sent him a preliminary questionnaire about the areas I wanted to cover. Zoom cut us off once, but we spoke for an hour and, to my shock, I realised that the recording hadn’t been saved to the computer thanks to Apple’s updated privacy settings! I wrote the interview from my notes and memory and sent it to him to check if I had got down everything right. I waited for a whole day nervously. And then he texted back: “Re your writeup, it is excellent. Fulll of spirit. No comments from my side. Only a small feeling from my side.” He ended his go-ahead text with an all the best, wondering when it would appear in print. I sent him an ePaper copy. I last texted him on his birthday, saying: “Happy birthday Sir!! Hope the thriller script is shaping up great! Can’t wait for you to start shoot!” Was hoping to meet him in Chennai at the end of October. So this has been too much of a shock. I remembered him telling me in the interview: “I am hale and hearty because I laugh a lot.” You brought many a smile to millions. Hope you are up there watching us celebrate your life. With the heaviest of smiles. Thank you for the laughter, Sir. It heals, and will continue to heal us every time we miss you. You live on, through our laughs. This appeared on September 4, 2026. Probably his last interview.
