This is giving me film!Wrinkle in Time vibes (pejorative)
In the book, the worlds they travel to are *real* worlds. The Wood has pools with *real* water.
Here everything outside London feels screensaver-y. I can’t imagine these worlds preexisting their visits.

Good, because many were uncomfortable on the set of "Mothra Bangs Rodan"
Kristina Sexton will serve as the intimacy coordinator for 'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova'.
The previous Monsterverse films did not utilize an intimacy coordinator.

I'm not one to complain about Star Trek (or even discuss it in detail) but the official poster for The original series on IMDB is this. Not sure if it's CBS official or some A.I. fan sh*t, but WTF - there's one huge glaringly wrong element in this poster that boils my blood.

Went back to Disclosure Day for a 2nd look.
What became painfully apparent was that Spielberg made an analog movie in a digital world.
Not a comment on the production. But it’s loaded with old ideas of edge that have since become worn out. In micro, his skills and the skills of the cast and crew deliver. But in macro, it feels like he and the screenwriter just didn’t answer the challenging questions… like why not just put it all online from the start? Or is every chase “find the target… send 5 dark cars.” Drones weren’t a thing in the 80s and 90s. They are ubiquitous now.
It feels like a film from someone who really likes what they did. It doesn’t feel like someone overcoming the broken sharks of 2026.
It’s an entire movie leading to getting on local broadcast TV.

Horror is so popular right now because it's a more achievable goal for a divisive humanity. Scared is an easier emotion to aim for than laughter because no one knows what to laugh at anymore. Our entertainment is reduced to our basic limbic system. Fight or flight.

It's been five years since the Kamloops announcement. Among many questionable actors, the @nytimes still has not faced or acknowledged any accountability for its role in promoting a rash, confused narrative around that event.
I don't normally post about politics and my personal life (and having been punished for it in the past, on here and offline, I do so with some trepidation), but I feel a need to express why this particular outrage still makes me tremble with sorrow (and if I'm being honest, anger).

Zach Braff shares the most Harrison Ford interaction imaginable during THR’s Comedy Actor Emmy Roundtable:
“I’m on the Warner Bros. lot in a golf cart with Harrison Ford, and one of the trams goes by with all the tourists in it and Harrison sort of just gently looks the other way. I go, ‘Do you ever wave?’ And he goes, ‘No … but I do feel bad about it.’” bit.ly/4wFvAXo

Watching RDJ and Chris Evans desperately trying to ham it up in between moments of genuine wit (O'Brien) and heartfelt sentiment (Paul Thomas Anderson) underlines just how far we have now moved beyond the Marvel era. Good riddance. #Oscars

Seems bad. Honestly I'm not interested either, despite having been a fan for so long. Based on what I have seen in the last 8 years before I gave up, Star Trek needs to change a few things to get back on track:
- Cut down on the emotionality. One person crying once per season, at *most*.
- Hire actual science fiction writers. I cannot stress this enough.
- Stop wanking over it's own lore. Setting is secondary, focus on strong individual stories.
- Tech somewhat less magical.
- Starfleet is very meritocratic and unapologetically elitist. Officers are the best of the best and should be competent, fit, mature, professional, and emotionally stable.
- Quit the quipping and speak like adults.
- Maybe no one is working through their trauma.
- Reinvigorate its classically liberal values.

Yeah, this was a bit weird, it felt like a movie about a protestant church that was rewritten about Catholicism because they wanted Josh Brolin to do a lewd confession bit.

“‘David’ may be a children’s film at heart, but it raises the bar for faith-based animation as a whole: thematically resonant for kids but artistically inspiring for viewers of all ages.”
