Replying to @DWPgovuk
@DWPgovuk @leicesterliz Can you explain how you justify forcing the most vulnerable into "Compulsory Debt" when migrating from ESA to UC? Run on for ESA, HB, etc, is only 2 wks, but 1st payment from UC takes 1 mth +7 days. We have to find min 3wks income and rent or get #DWP loan

Head of OBR told Nick Robinson: "The total of welfare spending hasn't changed all that much [over the years] in the scheme of things". Anyone think that will stop Robinson and others banging on about "ballooning welfare"? No, me neither. #r4today @BBCr4today #Budget2026

So, a boy has been spared prison for stabbing a girl repeatedly because he is a bright lad. Recently, some boys were spared prison for raping girls because they were not bright lads. Open season, then.

I'm deeply concerned about the environmental impact of hyperscale AI data centres, including here in Leeds. In September, I tabled a parliamentary motion for a national moratorium on them. I've now also written to Leeds City Council formally requesting an immediate pause in the planning process for the proposed AI Data Centre at Skelton Grange.

A 14-year-old boy followed a girl into a shop and repeatedly st*bbed her because she refused to date him. When he appeared before a judge, the court heard about his potential, his intelligence, and the importance of protecting his future. The judge called him a “bright lad.” But there was another 14-year-old in this case. A girl whose future had already been profoundly changed by what he did to her. In March 2026, the girl was attacked in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, after rejecting the advances of a boy from her school. He had become obsessed with her. After she turned him down, he created fake social media accounts to continue contacting her. On the morning of the attack, he approached her again and asked her out. She refused. He followed her into a shop carrying a six-inch kitchen knife. What happened next was captured on CCTV. He chased her through the shop and stabbed her repeatedly, inflicting wounds to her neck, hands and face. A shopkeeper who tried to intervene was also injured. Police said the girl was extremely fortunate to survive. A slightly different wound could have killed her. The boy admitted serious offences, including wounding with intent and carrying a knife. He spent approximately three months in a secure youth facility before being released on bail. At sentencing in September, Judge Ian Lawrie said custody was the last place he should be. He wanted to construct a sentence that would provide support and rehabilitation. The boy received a 12-month referral order and a three-year restraining order. Then came the girl’s victim statement. She described flinching whenever someone raised a hand near her. She spoke of nightmares, fear, and the loss of the independence she once enjoyed. She was now being driven to work because she was frightened to go outside alone. She was also 14. Youth justice should recognize that children can change. Rehabilitation is important, and a child’s age must matter. But the girl is a child too. Her mother said the family felt failed by the justice system. Parents whose daughters had been killed by former partners also condemned the sentence. A judge saw a boy with a future worth protecting. The girl he attacked is still trying to recover the ordinary freedoms she had before he picked up that knife.

HOW MUCH MORE ARE ORDINARY PEOPLE EXPECTED TO TAKE?! Either there is a crisis or there is not. Why are we being squeezed dry by sky-high bills while BP and the banks rake in BILLIONS in profits? We are told to tighten our belts while corporations fill their pockets. Make it make sense. Who exactly is this crisis working for?!

32-year-old Ryan Dinnage, who was part of Nigel Farage’s security team, has been jailed for eight and a half years for raping a woman while she slept in a caravan. He was charged in 2025, was still protecting Nigel Farage in April and May 2026, and was convicted in June.

Peter Mandelson was correctly removed from the Privy Council for bringing it 'into disrepute'. The same action must now be taken against Matt Hancock, responsible for the generational slaughter in care homes during the pandemic. ⬇️Sign our petition ⬇️ c.org/xWgPym5KR7

These are the faces of some former Thames Valley Police officers dismissed over child abuse offences. The very people entrusted to serve and protect the public, especially its most vulnerable, became the very people children needed protecting from. A sickening betrayal of trust.

Well said @RichardJMurphy: "Those demanding welfare payment cuts should make explicit that they: Want to increase inequality Think we have insufficient poverty Think the vulnerable should suffer more than they already do Are motivated by greed Then explain the costs of cuts"

The Labour government don’t give a shit about the countryside. A mixture of inverted snobbery against rural communities, rural independent businesses, farmers and landowners and seeing farmland as an asset to dismantle and asset grab for themselves and their net zero and big tech corporation cronies.

2026: We hate people on benefits. So the people on benefits get a minimum wage job, But we still hate them because the minimum wage destroys businesses when it goes up. So those minimum wage workers work really hard and become teachers, nurses or police officers And we still hate them because those jobs are paid for by our taxes and sometimes they have the cheek to ask for more, of OUR money!!!!! But they keep working that job anyway, until the day they retire and then we hate them because they get a pension and pensions increase at a higher rate than our wages. Oh and if you have the absolute nerve to be chronically ill or disabled We hate you too!!!

Yesterday’s Budget: families on their knees, energy bills soaring, living standards described as “grim,” and other departments cut to scrape together defence funding. Today: King Charles sharing photos of himself lounging on a government VIP jet that costs £2,000 an hour (tartan cushions and all) en route to Barbados. £18k for one flight while ordinary people freeze and scrape. This is the UK in 2026. Abolish the monarchy. #NotMyKing #AbolishTheMonarchy

Today Andy Burnham made a gift of £1000 from every Brit to Ukraine while giving us £30 off our standing charge - but not yet and certainly not before the profiteering energy companies rack bills up by another 27% in January. Are we going to be this fucking stupid for ever?

Let's cut his generous salary, expenses, donations, as well as subsidised food and alcohol in the House of Commons instead. We shouldn't be paying them a wage and then have to pay their mortgages/rents and bills.
