Grateful for my dad busting his ass on an assembly line so one day his son could grow up to just browse twitter all day.
CIA told this man "Classified" and Marco said "No one reads the classifieds now, I'll post it on socials"
I think this is just the kind of thing you have to get over at some point in your life.
This was my Picard/3 lights moment
5th grade the teacher gave us this question
Everyone except me got it wrong, including her
She got the whole class to "explain" it to me
Math is just logic, there is no ambiguity, I could not see their answer
Then she assigned a girl to take me aside and lecture me
Most Soviet experience of my life, including my north Korea trip
At parent/teacher conference she told my folks that she thought about it later that night and realized I was right
Never said anything to me or apologized in front of the class
In a free society she would have been put against the wall for doing what she did to a kid
I disagree with the premise of the tweet, Nathan For You is top 1% to content of all time, but the replies to this saying you have to watch them in order to have context are quite funny.
It sure would be great if Mehdi's audience took the "You should actually focus on the defeating the Republican" message to heart.
Me: "Do you know how many times you've tweeted about Piker since you wrote that tweet [about not tweeting about him] on August 30th?"
@mattyglesias: "Probably more than I intended to."
Me: "8 times.... you tweeted about Mike Rogers 6 times. So you're tweeting about the streamer you didn't want to talk about more than the Republican candidate you say you want to defeat."
Yglesias: "Yeah, that's fair."
Me: "Why?"
Yglesias: "What do you want me to say? You got me."
From my new Zeteo interview with the top centrist pundit - on the left, Michigan, Gaza, immigration, polls, electability, and more:

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Yglesias's posts since Aug 30 include ~5 mentioning Piker and at least 9 mentioning Rogers/Rodgers, not 8 and 6. Hasan posted about Piker ~35 times in the period.

I'm skeptical of the claim that acknowledging long COVID exist would tank the stock market.
The "just asking questions" types always just ignore the actual answers.
Unpopular Opinion:
If we can’t openly and calmly — without character assassination attempts and smears — talk about whether a gubernatorial candidate or her mother is the one lying, then we have a massive problem.
Court records exist if there was a conviction for abuse. Cases involving custody often involve abuse and other grotesque claims — somewhere in the ballpark of 50 percent of contested divorces and custody cases. Family law attorneys routinely brief and coach their clients on how to gain an advantage using carefully crafted stories and constructed claims — there’s always a victim and a villain on both sides of the story.
If we cannot talk about that without being guilted, shamed or defamed when we’re not the ones in the story (here, Acton, her brother, father, mother and stepfather), we are doing it wrong and have no legitimate claim to “vetting” the history or present M.O. of a candidate.
This is not a claim that dropped 15 days before an election.
Donna Arthur said all of this on the record in June 2020 — six years ago — when her daughter was Ohio’s health director, not a candidate for governor. She disputed the hardship story then. She said then that her daughter learned early that lying worked. She said then that she worried Amy was positioning herself for higher office.
Acton resigned from ODH eight days after that interview published.
AND LET’S BE VERY CLEAR HERE: The people saying they’re offended by this — David Pepper, the Acton campaign, the Democrats, progressives and even Republicans — publish accusatory propaganda all the time about the people and movements they identify as their ideological opponents.
Candidates and campaigns routinely try to smear private citizens — Acton’s camp in particular, several times this cycle (both directly and indirectly).
The difference here is that Acton is not a private citizen. She is a candidate who has been caught in several lies in this campaign alone.
So I ask: What’s the standard?

"I’ve been watching Norm clips since 2017"
So many people missed the best way to consume Norm content, besides seeing his standup live. Waiting around on a Monday night to see if there would actually be an episode of Norm Macdonald Live
The Norm MacDonald documentary is terrible. They’ve totally cucked him. In choosing to construct it out of the most normie content of Norm’s cult YouTube videos they’ve destroyed the draw of those very videos.
They treat him as a cult icon of all comedians in the beginning and somehow don’t include his 9/11 content, his holocaust denying ventriloquist dummy, his announcing that Andy Richter is a heterosexual fan of gay porn on Conan in the 90s, his homeless bum stories. They do the Hitler’s dog bit…
I’ve been watching Norm clips since 2017. If this was my introduction to him I’d look down at him as overhyped and lame. As corny and uninteresting.
The appeal of Norm is of an unsuspecting stranger saying the most unexpected yet well timed and hysterically genius comment in the corner of a bar. Messing with you and wasting your time for fifteen minutes. This doesn’t capture him at all.
Just YouTube Norm on your own for two hours, which incidentally is the entire structure of the movie.
Feel like this guy's goal is to get to an independent Alberta where lawyers misappropriating trust funds will be legal

Just saw the profile of an AI exec who describes himself as a "former corporate attorney" and it appears he only articled for a firm.
You should not take his advice on winning, it says so right there in his profile.
Before the votes are tallied, I wanted to be clear about something that they're going to try and take from us.
The definition of victory.
If as much as 25% elect for option 2 on the only question that matters... this is not a win for "remain."
It's a victory for independence.
1/4 of the province (of which had doubled in size since this bs immigration scheme) is on board with cutting ties.
That's not 2 crazy dudes in Didsbury. That's every 4th person.
Maybe we won't get to further the process... but we will get to make our point clear: a huge chunk of us are so dissatisfied with the present status quo that we want to walk away from it all.
From this day forth, politicians will see that number on the page and know that it they don't find a way to bring those people into the discussion, they've lost them.
Don't let them redefine victory and marginalize our struggles.
But of course, I want option 2 to pass.
