Phygital artworks represent an exciting intersection of traditional and digital art forms, offering new ways to engage with art.
However, this innovation brings with it significant challenges regarding originality, ownership, and ethical sales.

The why has been influencing my decision to buy art more than the how. In a world where the tools are boundless, and ever changing. I want to know more about why the art is being made.
What strings are you pulling from when making the art, the level of discussions about the work itself. This is why this space interests me, because you can get in touch with any artist typically and ask them these questions.
Being able to discuss adds history to the art, and to me that's added value.

Heading to Lisbon for the @NFCsummit next week, and it feels like a homecoming 🥹
I was an exchange student here in 2022, and now I’m returning for my first NFT conference.
Representing @rightclick, I can’t wait to finally meet all the awesome RC artists I’ve been chatting with for almost a year in DMs. With our new pivot to the Artist Registry for blockchain provenance, there’s so much to talk about.
Who’s up for brunch or a coffee catch-up? ☕️📩
(so excited!)

I can't remember the last time I saw an auction history with this type of collector-caliber bidding on a single work!
Talk about the importance of provenance as a collector; this is the time of context you want to see as a collector when collecting a piece.
Sheshhhh!!!

Fun fact: I had received this from Xcopy as a replacement for his "Jesus mob", after the minting platform Ascribe had got abandoned.
Later I parted with it in a private deal, because I didn't like the topic of a tank in my collection.
I wonder, if anyone ever payed royalties.
To Trust.. or Not to Trust? 🤔🧵
The Role of Auction Houses and Galleries in Digital Provenance: Enhancing Credibility or Complicating Authenticity
1/12 “Loading New Conflict… Redux 6,” the 1/1/n NFT minted by @XCOPYART in 2018, was auctioned at @Sothebys last year for $254K. But how do we verify that? Let's dig in.

Very good topic:)
Can a NFT really store the provenance of a work of art? What if it goes from $50 to 500K?
Probably the NFTs that are popular today cannot store the provenance of an artwork. For the simple reason that the metadata of these NFTs, the description, the artwork, can be changed after minting. Has the first owner bought a photo or an ape? Who knows?
It is important to start using smart contracts that generate immovable NFTs.
It is also important to put an end to the idea that artists need platforms to mint. What we need are clear guidelines and a willingness to learn how the blockchain works, if we want to be truly in control of our creation.
We've recently started discussing provenance more. But why is it an important topic?
Provenance shows the history of an artwork: who owned it before, where it's been shown, and details about any times it was sold or auctioned. For example, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa illustrates this well, having been owned by French kings and stolen in the early 20th century, each event adding layers to its story, mystique (and value).
For traditional art, you can often trace this through things like sales receipts, gallery records, or entries in catalogues raisonnés.
For digital artists, provenance takes on a new role due to the nature of digital works:
- authentication - verifying the original work;
- value - increasing the artwork's market value with documented history;
- ownership - establishing clear rights over the artwork;
- legacy & reputation - maintaining an artist’s identity and contributions. For instance, Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days documented his artistic evolution from simple drawings to complex 3D works, capturing his reactions to current events, which helped preserve and showcase his artistic journey. The huge impact of its sale at auction also becomes part of its history, adding to its provenance.
If an artwork’s history is well-documented, it can be worth more. Collectors prefer to buy art when they can be sure of its history.
But the importance of understanding and managing provenance goes even deeper: it’s about protecting an artist's creative identity and making sure their impact is recognized.
We tend to believe that blockchain = transparent provenance, but is it, really? When buying digital art, do you fully understand what you’re getting? Are smart contracts clear and easy to navigate? And we haven't even started to talk about collaborations here.
What do you think about the blockchain provenance?

Screens are an important enabler for NFT art, and until we all have Vision Pro, we need to work with what we have at hand 📺
As one of our experiments, we've launched a @Samsung TV App "rightclick", so anyone can enjoy digital art from 800+ RC.XYZ artists in their living room, cellar, or perhaps a man cave?
Can't wait to hear what our first users think! Please, let us know

yes, this is one of the black spots of NFTs and decentralization, another creates the same NFT and sells and there is no protocol to validate it, but registering as yourself is above stealing and should be more controlled by the marketplaces.
