I will say this - LLMs are not replacing humans any time soon. I have experience in my domaim and know what to elicit from an LLM. I'm saving myself the hassle of typing 100K LoC every year. But if companies stop hiring young people, there will be a void in the pipeline and it will create havoc. "AI will replace SDEs" is a marketing gimmick. AI will make people more productive and result in more people writing more software. This non-hiring of juniors will be fixed soon enough.

These left and right framings in the Indian context are kind of meaningless. The BJP which is considered a "Right wing party" has policy positions to the far far left of say the the Democratic party in the US. Whether it's abortion rights, paid maternity, minimum wages, food, housing, healthcare, taxation, or affirmative action, the democrats can't even in their wettest of wet dreams imagine doing what the three NDA govts have done. What the INC (Rahul Gandhi) wants is firmly in the basket of communism. Nobody is going to vote for that crap at the center.
Reality of today’s politics.

You arrested and prosecuted a professor from Jadavpur university for forwarding a cartoon. You have no standing to speak here. You shame all Bengalis with your actions over the last decade.

This story is hilarious. Any resemblance with real events is purely coincidental. No wonder the crazy right in the US can call the left liberal media fake news and be right about it....

Mumbai cab drivers have a heart of gold. They hear lots of random chatter. Very nice of this cab driver to applaud Prof Basu. Made his day. Got us a tweet.
Recently in Mumbai I said how, after I proposed a policy, PM Manmohan Singh said he disagreed but added that shouldn’t stop me from talking about it since my job was to develop ideas. To my surprise the Mumbai audience erupted in applause for Dr. Singh. Clearly he’s being missed.

Bayern Munich has done wonders for Harry Kane. And vice versa. First Bayern player to win anything since Rummenigge in the 80s. Extremely well deserved. Congratulations Harry.
Harry Kane going from football’s most famous trophyless player to a Ballon d’Or winner might be the greatest example of why changing employers can improve your life.

The massive amounts of copium abuse by racist/nativist Americans is a sight to behold.
The fastest way to determine if Asians have assimilated to American culture is to ask them about schooling. If they don’t realize that America and the West dominated their cultures/countries because of a childhood focus on play rather than memorization then they have not assimilated. The reason their kids are in a school in Arizona, as opposed to the American kids in an “American School in X” is a lack of appreciation and understanding of this fact. To the extent that demographics change the school system, like in Palo Alto/Bay Area, for these people, it is for the worse.

Waiting for Darab to move onto the bargaining stage...
Brazil tried Bolsonaro, saw the damage, and brought Lula back. India tried Modi, saw the damage, and kept voting for him. The difference? Education. An educated society recognises its mistakes and corrects them. An uneducated one defends them.

I don't think Khare's comments should be taken as some attack on the PMs father. It's a colloquialism that's crude but not malicious. But PM Modi is 100% justified to go after the mentioned ancestors of Rahul Gandhi. They were in prominent roles in active politics. No free pass.
Deplorable of Congress to refer to PM Modi's baap in a common slang phrase. Especially when Modi-ji has shown such admirable restraint towards Rahul, Rahul ka baap, Rahul ki maa, Rahul ke baap ki maa and Rahul ke baap ki maa ka baap.

President Lula and PM Modi have a lot in common, including their humble beginnings. Hopefully, India and Brazil can work towards growing trade without using the $.
Heartiest congratulations to my dear friend, President Lula, on his remarkable re-election victory. I look forward to working closely with him to further deepen and expand the multifaceted India-Brazil Strategic Partnership. Together, we will continue to strengthen our cooperation across diverse sectors, advance the shared priorities of the Global South and work towards a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world. @LulaOficial

If I said something like this, even jokingly, I would have a tough time making eye contact with the many women in my life, starting with my mother, my wife, my cousin sisters, and friends. Who talks like this????

That's not good news for the AI buildout 👀
Replying to @chamath
Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

Shibu Soren taking a bribe. I just couldn't understand how and why he didn't go to jail and continued in public life. I was still very young but aghast at how fucked up our politics was.
What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

Why are these protestors getting such cheap lawyers? Why are y'all rationing at Soros & Co. Give the kids money for good lawyers. What kind of a lawyer drives a camary???? The kind that can't get you out on bail.
Lawyers' car most probably.

When I need to use Claude, I use it inside VS code. And then when I need to edit code, I go back to my wall of vim windows. Is it just me?? I should probably ask r/AITA if it's just me.
Using Claude Code in the terminal is mostly an ego thing. The desktop app looks better and does the job. Prove me wrong. What does the CLI do that the app can't?

India has an MoU with Indonesia to sell them the Brahmos missile. There isn't even a formal agreement yet. And given Indonesia's extra curricular activities, I don't see the deal being consumated.
Please click on the attached post to read (it's a thread), in the context of Indonesia joining a military alliance with Pakistan. Will make sense now.

For the 100th time - anyone insisting on ballot paper based voting has only one interest - both capturing and the actual destruction of democracy.
Reports of booth capturing, snatching of ballots, and other irregularities have been received from UP and Bihar during yesterday’s MLC elections. Electronic voting machines (EVM) were not issued in this election. Voters, mostly graduates and teachers, had to stamp the ballot paper and stuff it inside the ballot box. Those who have been demanding nationwide elections through ballot papers, must have seen visuals of how booths were captured and ballots looted yesterday. However, this was on a scale much low compared to the dark days of Eighties and Nineties. I covered several elections in UP and Bihar as a reporter. I was witness to scenes of 10 to 12 gunmen coming in vehicles, firing in the air to scare away the voters. The polling staff and lathi-carrying policemen used to hide in other rooms. Gunmen used to snatch away ballots, merrily stamp them and stuff those ballots inside boxes. Polling used to be over within an hour. Voters waiting outside were told that polling is over. There were no TV cameras at that time, nor did people have mobile phone cameras to record these acts. Hence, it was very difficult to collect “evidence”. Occasionally, some newspaper camerapersons used to take pictures, and when newspapers published them, there used to be a big hullabaloo. Repolling was held in such booths. For the generation who have only seen the age of EVMs, they can hardly imagine how gangsters used to loot votes in those dark days. Such acts of booth capturing led to the rise of gangsters, mafia and hooligans in Indian politics. Later, gangsters themselves fought elections. Thirty years ago, when EVMs were introduced in elections, the influence of ‘vote mafia’ gradually waned. Today, those who are demanding the return of ballot papers, must realize they will be taking the country back to that dangerous era which still gives goosebumps.
