Following Sir Winston Churchill’s death, his widow Clementine received many letters.
One particularly poignant,
“That he died is unimportant, for we must all pass away. That he lived is momentous to the destiny of all. He is not gone. He lives wherever men are free.”

This wonderful painting - 'Quiet Waters' by Winston Churchill - was loaned to @ChartwellNT for our 2026 season but, *due to popular demand*, the owners have kindly allowed us to extend its display and it will remain at Chartwell for the foreseeable future.
I am overjoyed that this wonderfully tranquil landscape, created around the time Winston Churchill bought Chartwell, will remain at his former home for the coming years.
We are hugely grateful to the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation for allowing us to continue to share this beautiful scene with the hundreds-of-thousands of visitors who come to Chartwell every year, and the The Beaverbrook Foundation for their continuing support of our work at the Churchills' former home. What a marvellous day! 🖼️🎩✌

The sacrifice of @HaleyforMI and the future of the Democrats. The party establishment will ensure that the Michigan congresswoman will pay with her future career for her decision to oppose the openly antisemitic @AbdulElSayed. I explain in @JNS_org. tinyurl.com/7z43c79y

A chilling comparison. Schools for Jewish children in the UK need to be heavily guarded and secured against violent attack. No other schools in the UK need such protection.

I have ordered my copy, cannot wait to get stuck in. One mundane question that I wonder is answered. Of all the exotically beautiful French names of Marshalls, Soult, Murat, Bernadotte…..how did a Macdonald creep in? Intrigued with his family History.
