If you want to support a solo dev from New Zealand, working his evenings away on this, keep reading..
Void Inc is in Next Fest & it's a workplace management sim with creeping horror. It's pretty good, too (and I'm not biased at all!)
Thank you all ๐ซถ

Yeah, I mean people are shitty all the time, a lot of people want to take shortcuts in the places where you shouldn't, too.
That doesn't mean there aren't people who have been doing it for a long time, improving their workflows and being able to do things better than before.

Absolutely! Not going to catch it all, but reduce the chances of that game breaking bug

Sometimes we all just need a break from it, you're doing it all for free, don't be hard on yourself

Haha, I hope they still show kids this movie in school

Everything is not as binary as people would like it to be. It's just easier to deal with mentally sometimes if you treat it that way
Gen AI, I can only say maybe for artists who know what they are doing to help with not-important, non-end-product stuff, but I don't understand enough to make a properly informed judgement there, I feel like this is where it is the worst.
This is the reality of today, I love handmade, and I think real innovation happens by those dedicated people who still love the craft.
However, sometimes your time is not best spent on opening PR's and writing automated tests, but creating good game experiences.
Even if you're against AI, I think it's worth trying it for code, to understand how it works.
You might even find small ways to automate the tedious parts of development, freeing up more time for the creative work you actually enjoy, without losing what makes your games yours.

It's super easy to do for me, too.
I do it all the time with developing games.
Started to see it too, the way I feel when I'm not hyperfocusing (in those rare moments) start to tell me if I listen.
So this weekend I'm just doing chill stuff: Went to a convention with my daughters and today I'm working in the garden.

yeah, it's noble goal. I have automated testing/full play through tests (automatic using a bot on both windows and a linux docker img), and unit tests, I also played it through a load, but you're never going to catch every different situation that could cause a crash

Yeah Google has just got worse and worse, I think it was putting all their effort into the advertising side and forgetting about the users

A lot of people search through LLM now, for better or worse, GPT is doing the heavy lifting

I was super surprised by The Autopsy of Jane Doe, was not what I was expecting and it made it way more creepy

I thought the drone was gonna pick it up and hurl it off too ๐
This is just SOME of the builds/releases and fixes I've done on Void Inc since I released the demo on Steam

No, it's a terrible idea, considering that people don't all discover your game on day 1, it takes a long time to reach all your potential players
People have always copied games, just make your game and make it well

see players getting this through sentry, almost the exact same issues even though I tested the builds too ๐ญ
