Imagine if senate races involved bitter fights over how to manage the intractable India-Pakistan conflict. Everyone would see that’s insane. And that’s a conflict between two countries that account for nearly a quarter of world population.

Our investigators observed funds stolen by DPRK in last month's Bitget exploit commingling with funds stolen from Binance. We have a high degree of confidence that DPRK is responsible for the $6.4 billion hack of Binance.
We live in unprecedented times. But DPRK are up to their old tricks. We assess @binance hack for $6.4B was likely done by DPRK group TraderTraitor due to links to previous hack. Industry partners have already frozen ~$3B and we @chainalysis continue to follow all of the funds

After this tweet, a GPU provider we already wired $3M to called and asked for $5M more upfront. Said it’s now riskier. He tried to renegotiate a signed contract. Then banks we were in talks with cut their lending offers in half, saying their IC got scared. One reply moved capital markets against everyone building in this space except the people big enough to be immune to it. teapawt.org/elonmusk/status/211443…

Pretty much. As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers. SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue. That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

I don’t understand these PDF-length treatments of AI bubble scenarios. I don’t think a crash is coming but if it happens the only needed policy response is “don’t do anything.” Some investors will lose money and interest rates will fall. It’s fine. That’s my PDF.

BREAKING: Binance has been hacked with wallets across the Ethereum, Bitcoin, and TRON networks seeing outflows of -$5.7 billion. The hack includes $1.45 billion worth of Bitcoin and $875 million worth of ETH. If confirmed, this would mark the biggest hack in crypto history. We expect more information shortly.

Mao was terrible. The wrong side won the Chinese Civil War. The successors of Mao have been not as bad as he was, which is a low bar, but they've still been awful. Taiwan shows what China could and should be-- a multiparty capitalist democracy. Hopefully one day it will be one.

The economy *is* the lifeblood of the people.
just heard someone say "people are more important than the economy" and it occurred to me that some people genuinely believe that others care about the economy because they like numbers going up and not because it drives living standards for the population

This is the type of thing that potentially gets new laws passed.
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…

if dems get trifectas in all the states they're favored to this year, they could get the national popular vote interstate compact (NPVIC) to hold the 2028 election under popular vote rules. although it's pretty likely the court strikes it down
