Moonlight reflected off the Amazon river. At the proper angles in our orbit, we aboard @Space_Station can see brief silvery flashes atop water surfaces, illuminating even the darkest places on Earth.

More thoughts on the state of US battery manufacturing coming soon.
For now: proud to highlight portfolio company Electroflow's coverage in the WSJ today. Turning lithium brine directly into structurally cheaper, fully US-made LFP, this is what reshoring the battery supply chain actually looks like.

Great to see prescribed fire on federal land in the SF Bay Area. Now please do it where it will actually protect neighboring communities.

Star Axis is complete. Fifty years in the making, land artist Charles Ross has finished his monumental observatory on a mesa in New Mexico. A staircase, aligned with Earth's axis, climbs to a open lens that tracks Polaris and the 26,000-year cycle of Earth's gravitational wobble.

“You can see the surface of the Moon…we just went sci-fi.”
On flight day seven, images from our @NASAArtemis II crew amazed, turning science fiction to reality. From the lunar far side to a solar eclipse from the Moon, the views are EVERYTHING. No pressure to pick a favorite.

New job posting, Chief of Staff, reporting directly to me.
Please help me share far and wide. This will be a fantastic role at a pivotal time in Fervo’s journey. fervoenergy.com/career/chief…
Hello, Moon. It’s great to be back.
Here’s a taste of what the Artemis II astronauts photographed during their flight around the Moon. Check out more photos from the mission: nasa.gov/artemis-ii-multimed…

"A whole civilization will die tonight” are words no President of the United States had ever spoken until this morning. Donald Trump’s behavior is unhinged and making Americans less safe. After a 25-year career in the United States Navy, I have never met or served with anyone who so completely lacks the qualities of good leadership as Donald Trump does.
If the President takes the actions he has threatened to take, countless Iranian civilians will die, it will massively escalate this war, and the United States will be seen as a country without a moral or ethical compass. That will make Americans less safe right now and risk the lives of thousands of service members. The consequences will have a lasting and damaging effect on our nation.
Trump's mistakes have led us to this perilous moment, but the solution is not to escalate even further. This must stop.

We could just... stop. This is such a waste of resources, land, and nitrogen. Even if we still wanted to use this land for fuel, we should be planting perennial grasses that require no fertilizer or irrigation and can yield far higher dry biomass per acre for use in Fischer-Tropsch (biomass to liquids) or gasification plants.
Effectively all growth in corn production over the last 20 years is for ethanol.
~20 million acres of conservation land, grassland, and soybean rotation was turned into corn monoculture that effectively strip mines the topsoil.
Meanwhile it’s the most fertilizer dependent crop with only a 40% uptake rate. So ~1.7 million tons of nitrogen runoff flows into the Mississippi basin annually while also polluting their own water supplies. This runoff ends up expanding the Gulf deadzone, which is also where 40% of domestic seafood comes from.
It’s hard to find a worse way to create fuel, with a wicked level of waste and downstream consequences.

ProPublica spoke to dozens of people who’ve worked on U.S. immunization programs.
They shared a pit-of-the-stomach dread that future American children will fight for their lives against infections that have long been preventable.

Gotta be honest: not great that paying data centers to turn off is our plan for grid reliability through 2030. A curtailment payment? Come on. This is bad! We have to stop managing the failure and build the grid we should have built in the first place. What are we doing here?!

I just want to highlight that while fuel use is down in China due to rapid EV adoption, coal generation is *also DOWN.*
*That’s* how much solar they’re building.
(everybody should do this)

We should treat electricity as a growth platform (like highways, broadband) rather than a commodity to be tightly balanced at least cost. The federal agenda would then shift from “optimize around forecast demand” to “build abundant capacity and let growth come to it.”
Sierra Peterson retweeted
She's not wrong. She might want to tell someone she knows who is close to Trump that they need to stop blockading permits for new electricity projects...

SirenOpt gives manufacturers a way to understand what’s happening inside their materials while they’re being made. By scanning micro- and nano-materials without destroying them, the platform surfaces signals that drive yield, performance, cost, and safety.
