trying to watch the wisconsin-iowa game and literally every single political ad on tv is about trans people. every single ad break is filled with them. we're like what, 1% of the population at best? and yet every single person in the state is getting beamed with ads all day every day calling me a groomer rapist who wants to take middle school sports trophies away from little girls or some other dumb shit. it's very strange to experience

Because I've been on ao3 for 15+ years and on many other fanfic platforms before that and you learn to safe everything you can when you've seen fandoms go up in smoke when entire fanfic sites just disappeared over night. Yall are just young and naive and have zero idea how the internet used to work for the longest time.
dont wanna be a megative mancy but all those drives going around, whilst incredibly helpful, terrify me. like, why do you have SO many fics downloaded?. i get having your favourites or likenthe popular ones but EVERYONE? wjy??

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believes people owning RAM for their own PCs is a waste and instead should be saved for data centers "It’s quite terrible to have everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer."

People saying AO3 readers are unemployed is so funny when the reality is most of us are using AO3 specifically to cope with the tragedy of being employed
"The most unemployed person you know is upset about AO3." Babe, one of the most brilliant writers in my fandom is a surgeon. Go outside and touch grass.

We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/

Yeah bro it’s lit. We got a newly verified species that was the source of controversy for actual decades and still requires a lot of study. And we’re gonna sell it on the open market to a private bidder with no guarantee of it being accessible to research institutions. It’s lit.

surely just telling yourself it's for "search and rescue" isn't enough to sleep soundly when u build shit like this
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
