This has to be a parody account @Nature
It can be hard to say no to service requests in academia.
We sought advice on how to ensure researchers donβt get stuck doing unpaid labour

This is bad. Full stop. It is impossible to fully break down why indirects are necessary but to relegate them to some βadministrative overheadβ with no real explanation of the jobs and infrastructure being cut is misleading. This will negatively impact communities and science.
Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as βindirect costs.β Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above what many major foundations allow and much lower than the 60%+ that some institutions charge the government today. This change will save more than $4B a year effective immediately.
This was truly a formative conference experience! Please help me spread the word, this GRC brings together a wide range of human to non-human models, approaches and perspectives that helped shape my last two years of research! Come join us this May 2025!
Alongside @KathrynWalder , we are excited to chair the trainees-only portion of the conference AND we are preparing to select abstracts for talks soon (like really soon), so please make sure to apply ASAP!

INCREDIBLY INSPIRED after the @CircuitBehavGRC where I was in awe of the scope and scale of the science being done by such a great group of people! Feeling invigorated and happy to have built so many new connections!

For the record: You cannot have an abortion in the 9th month. You cannot have an abortion after birth. If we didnβt keep banning books, maybe we wouldnβt have to clear that up. #Debate2024

1000%, this was the hands down the best session. Thanks to @drdebah for your work and energy!

soft launch of some very exciting news
Laura Rupprecht just gave us a great lecture on neuropod cells. FYI, she is hiring at all levels for 2025. If interested, be sure to contact her @RuptheScientist

I remember the day that @NicoleScottHew1 made her initial discovery, it was clear that it would lead to a great impact! She absolutely nailed it and I am excited for the world to see all her hard work!
Excited to share our recent work in @cellcellpress: Microglial-derived C1q integrates into neuronal ribonucleoprotein complexes and impacts protein homeostasis in the aging brain: Cell cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092β¦ @stevens1lab 1/n

Had such a great time seeing @anne_churchland and @NeuroMikeRyan !! So many great discussions with the Churchland lab and many others from UCLA!
Got together with @synaptokevin & @NeuroMikeRyan from the @SCAgingBrain to discuss #healthyaging. We take a multi-level approach to understand how brains age in the absence of disease. In this sense, aging can be an example of active remodeling rather than degeneration.

One of the best parts of watching these NCAA basketball games is getting to listen to @chiney & @Andraya_Carter break it all down!!! @espn better be putting them on a whole lot more games!

Why does this have an age limit? Why would it matter that you are less than 35 years old?

Microglia plays a critical role in the degeneration of synapses in Huntington's disease!
Led by Daniel Wilton in the @stevens1lab ! This was a remarkable study to be a part of and I can't wait to see the next steps and potential for therapeutic intervention ππππ

We had such a blast collaborating to make new tools to wirelessly control and record from gut and brain. Check out the paper in @NatureBiotech: nature.com/articles/s41587-0β¦
