I just learned that the #LCME is changing the way they do the ISA. Instead of using satisfaction-type survey items, they are now going to use items that employ agree/disagree response options. Let me just say two things about this: 1) the LCME's over-emphasis on student evaluations when it comes to #MedEd accreditation is mostly uninformed and misguided to begin with, and 2) the move to agreed/disagree items is another mistake. Agree/disagree items are "strongly disagreeable." In fact, I and others (eg, @HunterGehlbach) have been writing about the problems with such items for many years, and the problems are summarized quite well in the following review article by @JenniferDykema: sciencedirect.com/science/ar… My sense has always been that we're trying to be #evidence informed in the work we do in #education and #HigherEd but stuff like this makes me wonder... 😣
