There will be strong pressure on Mark Carney from several quarters, primarily Canada's private sector & mainstream media, to return to a state of "normality" and integration with the US, given the sane-washing performed by the midterms.
He must resist that pressure at all costs.

There will now be a temptation in many parts of Europe, including the UK, to think that things will eventually go back to normal with the US and that Europe can stop its reluctant shift towards strategic autonomy. That would be a serious mistake.

Besides, it's actually very easy to be anti-Israel & be a total ultra-nationalist & paranoid nativist. One doesn't lead to a reconsideration of the other. Pat Buchannan is right there as a model.

Ukraine is both wrong and foolish not to condemn the US blockade and strangulation of Cuba. Cuba is wrong to apologise for and aid Russia's blood-soaked invasion of Ukraine. In neither case does this stance eliminate the country's right to self-determination.
