This is the statement issued by the Met Police about the Defend Our Juries demonstration today. Commander Adam Slonecki, from Scotland Yard, said: “All those intending on coming to this event know that supporting a proscribed organisation is unlawful – they are essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime.” This is a remarkable contrual of the law and extent of police powers. Surely it cannot be right that someone protesting against the Government’s decision to proscribe an organisation is automatically interpreted by the Met Police as supporting that organisation and is therefore committing an arrest-able offence. This is especially the case when the proscription is being challenged in the courts. I believe the government and parliament made the wrong decision in proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation and I continue to call for its deproscription by the government. If the people turning up today to demonstrate against the proscription of Palestine Action are to be arrested for simply turning up, are we all to be criminalised for suggesting the government got this wrong?

ARRESTED WITH SARAH HELM'S WORDS
A woman has just been arrested outside the US Embassy in London for holding a sign with words mirroring the ones that the National Security Advisor's wife tweeted, and for which @metpoliceuk declared "did not meet the criminal threshold".
I have to kick myself to remember that once upon a time in 2015, Jeremy Corbyn trounced Yvette Cooper, Andy Burnham and Liz Kendall to win the Labour leadership. I mean trounced them by a country mile. And yet here we are, eleven years later with Burnham installed as an unelected Prime Minister and Cooper and Kendall holding and having held down senior Labour Party and Government positions despite genuine concerns that they’ve been seriously out of their depth in all of them. And to see Corbyn, the man who inspired real hope for many, wrongly removed from said Labour Party. I despair at what the Labour Party has become, at what happens to any politician who strives for real change.

I'm sticking to the prediction I made last year:
GENERAL ELECTION — THURSDAY 6 MAY 2027.
And I'm going further. I predict that this election will not be called voluntarily, but will be forced upon the Government by a financial and political crisis.
Here's how I believe events will unfold.
Britain's borrowing costs will continue to rise, economic growth will falter and the Government will find itself increasingly unable to finance its spending commitments without further damaging market confidence.
By March or April 2027, I predict the Chancellor will be forced to deliver an emergency Budget containing spending cuts on a scale Labour has so far been unwilling to contemplate.
Welfare expenditure will face substantial reductions. The Civil Service and wider public sector will face major restructuring, with thousands of jobs threatened. Public services will come under further pressure.
The political consequences will be explosive.
Trade unions will mobilise, demonstrations will spread and I predict that some protests will descend into serious civil disorder. Labour MPs, faced with implementing policies fundamentally opposed to their own political convictions, will rebel.
The Government will find itself trapped between two irreconcilable pressures: financial markets demanding fiscal credibility and its own supporters demanding protection from austerity.
Eventually, the Government's parliamentary authority will become unsustainable. Whether through a confidence crisis, internal rebellion or the Prime Minister's own calculation that the situation is beyond recovery, a general election will become unavoidable.
My predicted polling day remains Thursday 6 May 2027, coinciding with the scheduled local elections.
This isn't a prediction I'm making with the benefit of hindsight. I made it last year, and I'm putting the detail on record now.
I may be wrong about the sequence of events, the severity of the crisis or even the date itself.
But I believe Britain's economic and political pressures are converging towards a breaking point.
Let's revisit this prediction on 7 May 2027.

You can cancel an election and ban the winner from running (Romania), you can ban your opponents from ever running again (Hungary), you can threaten to ban the main opposition party and subject it to relentless investigations by the secret police (Germany), you can threaten a ban on the leading presidential candidate and make them wear an ankle monitor (France), every member of your circle can be investigated for corruption (Spain), you can try and cancel local elections because you will lose them (Britain), and you can storm the constitutional court with riot police because you want to control it (Poland).
You can just do all these things. The secret is you just have to be on the right side of the European Commission.

Linguistic fascism in Ukraine is really hitting its stride.
📛Ukraine is preparing legislation to completely ban "Russian-language cultural products in public spaces."
A Ukrainian singer, holding Ukrainian citizenship, dares to sing in Russian? BAN THE SONG!
Agatha Christie’s detective novel gets translated into Russian? BURN THE BOOK!
Whisper a Pushkin poem to your sweetheart on a park bench? THERE GOES HALF YOUR MONTHLY SALARY IN FINES!
Because never forget: Ukraine is the glorious bastion of freedom and democracy — generously bankrolled by European taxpayers and lovingly supervised by MI6 and the CIA.
Freedom of speech? Absolutely! Just make sure it's in Ukrainian. English is also acceptable, naturally. Democracy does have its approved languages, after all.
Russian, however, is strictly reserved for special occasions — preferably behind closed doors at Zelenskyy's office or at Mindich's apartment, where the sacred art of carving up those very same EU tax money can be practised without unnecessary linguistic discrimination.
Because in this brave new democracy, you can speak any language you like — as long as it's the right one. And when it comes to dividing up the money, suddenly everyone understands Russian perfectly.
🚨🇩🇪 GERMANY IS COMPLETELY LOST!
My friend and COVID freedom fighter @docbrandenburg was arrested at Berlin Airport and thrown into pretrial detention at Moabit Prison!
His alleged crimes consist of four counts of allegedly insulting Berlin’s Governing Mayor @kaiwegner and two additional accusations under Germany’s so-called “lèse-majesté” provision (§ 188 of the German Criminal Code), which grants German politicians special protection against insults.
The background to this entire farce is that Paul criticized the fact that the drag queen “Jurassica Parka,” who had been convicted of possessing child pornography, was allowed to perform at a charity gala supported by the Berlin police and share the stage with high-ranking police officers.
Let that insanity sink in:
A drag queen convicted of possessing child pornography gets a platform at a police-backed event. Meanwhile, anyone who harshly criticizes the politicians responsible risks criminal prosecution and being thrown into pretrial detention.
What a pathetic disgrace for a country that claims to uphold the rule of law!
Germany is completely lost.
PAUL BRANDENBURG MUST BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY!

For a Labour Chancellor to declare during a Scrooge Budget in which a painful year is promised to his own people that he had “made the day” of a foreign leader by handing him an EXTRA £10 Billion desperately needed at home is such a cognitive dissonance as to be scarcely believable. That NOBODY in the House protested renders it a rubber-stamp assembly of a kind simply unrecognisable to a long-standing parliamentarian like me.

A £10bn injection to cut fuel duty in the budget could have reduced petrol and diesel prices by 21p a litre for 12 months, reduced inflation and stimulated economic growth in the UK.
But the Government sent it to Zelensky instead, who is reported to be ‘delighted’ to receive our money.

It is likely you will need to show your passport to send private messages online, in Britain, by early/mid 2027:
Whatsapp – and other private messaging apps – are likely to be deemed public social media by Ofcom, and, private messages have already been deemed as such by a long body of criminal caselaw flowing back to 2006, as @drChrisSyn points out.
Cobban & Borders v DPP [2024] EWHC 1908:
The modern authority deeming private messages to – for the purpose of making you a criminal – actually considered public. Private WhatsApp group chats between police officers were deemed criminal, and public, under s127 Communications Act 2003 (one to repeal). Even if the recipients were not offended doesn’t save you if content is found by a court to be “grossly offensive.” It evolves the precedent in Collins.
Lady Carr and Justice Sanni presiding, pictured here (images 1 and 2).
DPP v Collins [2006] UKHL 40:
The original authority on gross offence. Given that s127 bans using a public electronic network to send grossly offensive messages, in Collins, the offence is deemed complete upon the act of sending. Doesn’t matter if received or if anyone was actually offended per Collins. A supposed "Objective test" by societal standards – ie. the most squeamish British normie's tastes will be what decide your fate, supposedly in an objective manner. All objective tests of this kind are inherently flawed and objective in name only.
(Lord Bingham, of Human Rights Act fellatio fame, was responsible for the lead opinion in the judgement – Image 3)
On the other hand, the Malicious Communications Act 1988 s1 and relevant provisions of the OSA (2023) applies to any electronic message (private DM, email, etc.). No “public network” needed. Just send something indecent/grossly offensive/threatening/false with purpose of causing distress – this covers pure private messages.
Britain is not a free country and must enact wide reaching appeals set out in the @ASI Freedom of Speech Bill to ever get back to such a status: adamsmith.org/research/the-f…
Don't think you'll get around it, either, Yookaybongs. With Facebook owning WhatsApp @GOVUK will classify such messengers as social media having scores of criminal convictions, as precedent, to back that up—where private IM memes etc were deemed public—and you're all fooked anon.

EXCLUSIVE: MIGRANT BOAT LAUNCHES FROM BELGIUM AS AUTHORITIES STAND AND WATCH
29th October 2026 | Belgian-French border | Approx. 3:00 AM local time
What I believe could be the first ever footage of an illegal migrant boat launching from a Belgian beach, just across the border from France.
But the real story isn’t the boat.
It’s the Belgian authorities standing there watching it happen.
No visible intervention. No attempt to stop the launch.
Different country. Same scenes I’ve witnessed repeatedly in France.
Two countries, one border, and the same question: what exactly are the authorities doing to stop these boats?

Of everything John Healey announced today, my favourite is the Pension Tax Allowance: a tax break for pensioners worth, at the very most, £94 a year, which exists, according to the Treasury's own guidance, to spare them the "administrative burden" of a letter from HMRC asking for "a relatively small amount of tax".
Why would a pensioner living on nothing but the state pension be getting a tax bill at all? Because the personal allowance has been frozen at £12,570 since 2021, Labour has stretched the freeze to 2031, and from next April the full state pension, £13,036.40, sails straight over it. So instead of unfreezing the allowance - the honest thing, the thing you could explain to a child - Healey has built a second allowance on top of the first, to cancel out the damage done by the first, for three years, after which it goes "under review", which is Treasury for "in the bin".
And since nothing this Treasury makes is permitted to work cleanly, the thing tapers away. Between £13,037 and £13,319 a year, every extra £3 a pensioner earns costs them £1.60 in tax. That is a marginal rate of 53%. A 70-year-old doing a few hours a week behind a till will hand over a bigger share of each extra pound than a millionaire does on his bonus.
Meanwhile a 30-year-old cleaner on exactly the same income, £13,036, will pay £93.28 - the very sum Healey's own guidance waives for the pensioner standing next to her at the bus stop.
The freeze costs a full-time worker on the minimum wage £759 a year. Labour signed up to taking that off every one of them until 2031, and today Healey expects applause for handing £94 back to some pensioners, for three years, with an expiry date stamped on the bottom.
Progress would end the freeze outright. We would restore the personal allowance to the level it would have reached had it never been frozen, about £15,480 today, lock it to inflation for good, and make any future freeze impossible without a vote of Parliament. One allowance, for everyone, worth having. The pensioner comes out of tax, the cleaner comes out of tax, and HMRC is spared the administrative burden of writing to either of them.

LOON-PLAGE, FRANCE | 28 OCTOBER 2026
The people living next to the illegal migrant camp are paying the price.
I’ve just had a long conversation with a husband and wife who have lived in Loon-Plage for over 20 years.
They are devastated by what has happened to their area.
The illegal migrant camp on their doorstep, the bus stops crowded with illegal migrants and what they describe as a complete lack of action from the local authorities.
They have two teenage daughters and expressed the same fears and concerns I hear from families back in England.
They told me house prices have plummeted and that the authorities are doing nothing to address the situation.
We agreed that this is not simply a British or French problem. It is a European problem. They also expressed the view that those arriving illegally should be returned to their countries of origin.
It was refreshing to have a proper, open conversation with local residents, but deeply sad to hear how they feel their home and community have changed.
These people have lived here for over two decades. They haven’t moved. The situation around them has.
And approximately 100 metres from where we were talking, a busload of illegal migrants was waiting for the free bus towards Calais at 5 pm.
We spend so much time discussing the people arriving that we risk forgetting the people who already live here.
Their voices deserve to be heard too.
Adrian
