Finished teaching a graduate database course with 146 students. Covered broad topics: history, analytical queries, ORDBMS, spatial and temporal data management, XML DBMS, parallel DBMS, MapReduce and NoSQL. Major focus on expressiveness and scalability, and hands-on exercises.
e) Pandemic changed learning habit. With lectures streamed (with super powerful digital classroom setup at @stonybrooku), most prefer to learn remotely or watch recordings.
g) DBMS continues to evolve and course materials have to be updated constantly! #Database
