CIOT and its LITRG have welcomed the government’s decision not to require mandatory payment of Self Assessment tax though PAYE, but concerns remain about the impact of earlier and more frequent payments on taxpayers’ cash flow, read more here litrg.org.uk/press-release/t…

Regarding the #loancharge the McCann Review rewards those who didn't comply with the previous deadline of 30/9/2020. It removes back interest, IHT & penalties (re non- compliance), plus £5k deduction. Those who did comply receive no such deductions or discounts. Makes no sense!

The McCann Review is outrageous. 1. It rewards ONLY people who didn't comply with the #loancharge settlement deadline. 2. It rewards ONLY people who did tax strategies after the law allegedly became clear. Had it applied on equal terms to ALL loans THEN it might have been "fair".

Current settlement terms mean those who disclosed their loans will pay more than those who did not. That discourages compliance. HMRC should amend settlement terms to remove interest, APN Penalties & IHT to ensure that those who disclosed are not penalised over those who didn’t.

It’s a travesty that those with pre-DR loans haven’t been offered these improved terms. Nor have those who stretched themselves to the limit to settle by the 2020 deadline & who may still be paying & still in danger of default. Some struggled to pay the tax but still face fhe IHT

"Savings & property income: From April 2027, tax rates on savings & property income will rise by a further two percentage points across all bands". Rates of 24%, 44% & 49% for affected income. So much for the manifesto promise not to increase income tax @UKLabour

LCAG are now exposed. They cannot properly fight for those who have been excluded from the improved McCann #loancharge settlement terms as that would mean confessing their encouraged non-compliance with no assessment of ability to pay. Packham & Earnshaw are bailing 👇

Major investigation from The Sunday Times - the Scottish state is paying a minimum of £27m a year to around 800 public sector workers, in the NHS, councils, police etc who do not have a job, but they cannot be made redundant owing to SNP policy thetimes.com/uk/scotland/art…

The Loan Charge Action Group FFC which instigated Robert Venables Judicial Review & raised funds, changed name to LCJR in 2020. LCJR was then struck off in 2023. Did it transfer funds to LC Action Group who now use donations for purposes other than for which funds were raised?

The McCann Review Terms of Reference left behind those who complied with HMRC settlement terms in 2020 yet rewarded those who sold non-compliance in the 2019 Tax Return. How can tax advisers encourage clients to come forward with full disclosure if McCann rewards those who don't?

Earlier this week we wrote to the APPG with some examples of the profound unfairness that excludes thousands of people from the improved McCann settlement terms. LCAG act as APPG secretariat. We have not as yet had any response from the APPG.

One day people will realise that the little group who ran LCAG torpedoed our suggestion of better settlement terms back in early 2020, because LCAG were worried that would shut the door on the litigation that WTT had hoodwinked them into believing had a 65% chance of success.

Maybe also ask the LCAG spokesman Steve Packham why he has ignored all the warnings (with evidence) that have been shared with him & why he continues to promote the insolvent WTT Consulting? #loancharge
