While yesterday’s election was a huge night for pro-Palestine candidates - they didn’t win everywhere.
In San Francisco, Senator Scott Wiener, a pro-Israel Zionist, won the race to succeed Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, beating Supervisor Connie Chan.
Senator Wiener must now honor the promises he made on the campaign trail about holding Israel accountable. And if he votes to send more aid and bombs to it as it commits genocide – he will hear it from us.
If Senator Wiener continues to be pro-Israel and vote against the interests of San Francisco as many of us in the Palestine Solidarity Movement expect him to, that contrast will be made very clear against the new Bloc of progressives that were elected into Congress last night.
I went hard against Senator Wiener during this campaign to expose his decades-long pro-Israel track record and its impacts, and I will continue to track what he does as our congressional representative and keep you informed about it.
No matter what -- we are in this fight together.
