Arkansas’s Jordan Smith Jr. has no peers when it comes to point-of-attack defenders of the 2027 cycle.
6’2, 6’9 WS (!) — one of the most impactful defensive prospects I’ve evaluated at the grassroots level. Relentless motor & length to pair alongside an already NBA-level frame.

Since 2005, I have one recorded case of an NBA player tearing their labrum in-season, undergoing surgery, & returning in the same regular season: Nicolas Batum in 2009. Oddly enough Batum's injury occurred on October 25, the same day that Cason Wallace sustained his injury.

Unfortunately @ShamsCharania reported a dislocated ankle and fracture of fibula which was feared
Likely timeline to return is 4-6 months if all goes well but could easily be the whole season

My current payroll projection for the 2027-28 Oklahoma City Thunder that won’t actually turn out like this.
They’ve got big decisions to make next summer though I still expect them to pay an exorbitant luxury tax bill and operate above the second apron next season.

Cason Wallace is reportedly open to leaving the Thunder, per @NYPost_Lewis
“There is a belief around the league that Wallace is open to leaving OKC, and he’s up for a big extension the Thunder might be loath to pay. The young guard would cost multiple first-round picks but be the point-of-attack defender the Nets need.”

Aday Mara was the most productive player at the FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 28 points (70% FG%), 11 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3.5 assists and 2 steals per 40 minutes. He towered over opponents at 7-3, being an absolute force around the rim thanks to his massive reach. Highlights:

Per @JakeLFischer | @TheSteinLine:
• The Hawks are actively pursuing a trade for a center.
• Atlanta has previously pursued centers Yves Missi, Goga Bitadze, and Daniel Gafford, all of whom have been viewed as potentially available.
• Following the draft, the Hawks explored testing Oklahoma City’s willingness to move Isaiah Hartenstein as part of their effort to upgrade the center rotation.
• Atlanta viewed Hartenstein as a longshot, but believed Oklahoma City’s selection of Aday Mara and second-apron concerns could have created a small window for a deal.

The Thunder made attempts to trade up to select Aday Mara...and they didn't have to. Pretty amazing fit. A perfect guy to battle Victor Wembanyama. At worst gonna be a reallllly good center. Elite rim protection, highly skilled passer and finisher. If he fixes the shot, oh boy!

From last week, and now @MikeAScotto confirms our reporting that the Warriors and Hornets have discussed a trade regarding the 14th and 18th picks.
Charlotte has been rumored to want to move in front of OKC to grab Morez Johnson Jr.
Both teams hold real interest in Johnson.
The Warriors are discussing the idea of trading down from #11 or adding another pick, with the intention of targeting Bennett Stirtz, sources told @BrettSiegelNBA:
"A couple of weeks ago, the Warriors made a call to the Charlotte Hornets to inquire about whether there was a deal to be had where they could acquire both their 14th and 18th picks. The Hornets showed no interest in trading both picks, with sources indicating that they're very comfortable maintaining their position in the draft. That has not stopped Golden State from searching for more trade possibilities. The Warriors are said to be open to moving down in this year's draft for the right price, and the idea of adding another pick in the late teens in addition to this 11th pick is not out of the realm of possibilities... But overall, why would the Warriors also be exploring ways to add another pick? Well, they have interest in a few other guys outside of those mentioned at the top, specifically Karim Lopez, Cameron Carr, and especially Bennett Stirtz. On Thursday, Stirtz was a last-minute, late addition to the Warriors' already lengthy list of draft prospects working out, and there has been a lot of talk about him being the Warriors' true dark-horse candidate in this draft."
