The real implication here: the Kansas Supreme Court now almost certainly stay Democratic until nearly 2050.
VoteHub projects Cindy Holscher to win the Kansas Governor election.

Update…. CNN reporting that UFC CEO Dana White has declined Trump’s offer to become press secretary
“It was unclear if Mr. Trump’s out-of-the-blue offer to Mr. White was meant to be a joke or was a serious offer aimed at projecting defiance after his midterm election losses — or perhaps a bit of both.”

If Mississippi gets called for Colom, Democrats will have won an election to the U.S. Senate in 43 distinct states since 2008. Republicans are at 35, by comparison.

The sobering reality that GOP probably doesn't want to grapple with is that between the course likely coming from @StephenM and the corruption revelations that D oversight will surely produce, there's no reason to think Trump's 37% approval rating in the Voter Poll was his floor
NEW Economist/YouGov: Donald Trump % of registered voters who approve | disapprove of Trump This week 36%* | 62%** (-26*) Last week 39% | 58% (-19) Start of term 50% | 46% (+4) *2nd-term low **2nd-term high d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.ne… d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.ne… d3nkl3psvxxpe9.cloudfront.ne…

Overlaying ‘26 results on #Va House, Senate districts suggests ‘27 XGR midterms could produce fattened Democratic majorities. But - and it’s a big but: #Va has elex every year, and every elex produces different electorate. And that can mean counterintuitive outcomes.
We still have provisional and late mail votes coming in VA, but @StateNavigate has calculated how each House of Delegates and State Senate district voted this year for the US Senate and US House using current results. docs.google.com/spreadsheets…

I've seen versions of this cope and they all ignore how many seats Dems started with. The "smart take" was that it would be hard for them to crack 230 bc they had so many swing seats already - Rs entered the cycle with just two members in districts won by Kamala. The biggest GOP House majority since the New Deal was the 2014 majority of 247 seats. Dems have already zoomed past that. And their big New Deal era majorities relied on Solid South conservatives who were replaced by Rs long ago. A majority of this size, where the most conservative member is Henry Cuellar (a pro-life Hispanic who's otherwise a normal liberal), is brand new.
Clinton lost 54 seats in the 1994 midterm election. Obama lost 63 seats in the 2010 midterm election. Trump just lost 41 seats in the 2026 midterm election. It’s not exactly the historic event you believe it to be.

one thing that's a bit forgotten is that the dual Democratic waves of 2006 and 2008 did have some underlying coalition differences. So even with two consecutive waves, 2006 was decently-but-not-perfectly predictive of what would come in 2008

Not surprising! (1) Bro’s dad founded the Gramsci Society😅 (2) Liberalism of mind—in its core, small “l” sense referencing an audaciously curious and epistemically open approach—breeds conversance with many, even/often mutually opposed, ideological groups’ beloved thinkers! 🔥
Pete Buttigieg, the lib’s lib, talking effortlessly about the political applications of Antonio Gramsci - and turning around an implicit attack on him to criticise the American right. Mayor Pete, I wasn’t familiar with your game.

I spent two years working with Stephen Miller. His appointment as White House chief of staff is among the most dangerous personnel decisions in the history of our republic. I say that without reservation.

Stephen Miller is a dangerous xenophobe and reckless extremist who has American blood on his hands. His presence in government should be eradicated like a malignant tumor. Fire him today.
