Farkus was on city council when they should have been maintaining the infrastructure.

When will the other recommendations from the panel be implemented? The culture of hiding issues from council continues, decisions continue by consensus, and nepotism continues in exempt roles. Nothing has changed, but we have an expensive report, don't we.

This is how you negotiate.

Residential has paid more than their share over the years. Why didn’t the city leave the dividends and franchise fees with the utilities to cover its costs? Looks like another form of taxation to bring in more revenue for city admin to be wasting.

Carney on EU associate membership: “Canada as a whole become a more independent, more sovereign nation.” How exactly do you protect Canada’s sovereignty by moving decision-making closer to Brussels? Even worse, how do you expect your economy to improve by getting closer to this Marxist wonderland?

It is a land use issue, council approves where in the city these can be built. We enforce noise bylaws, provide water/waste h2o, electricity etc. Do you think council should approve large scale data centres in residential neighborhoods?

City of Calgary is paying up to $89K / yr for a Transit Event Planner to plan internal employee events. The party continues at City Hall while Calgarians get tax increases and utility hikes. What are you doing to cut your spending #yyccc?
Replying to @KybrdWrrr
Combined these positions represent ~ $1.07M - $1.41M / yr in base salaries alone before benefits and pensions. One is a Transit Event Planner whose duties include organizing employee appreciation BBQs, Town Halls, recognition events, themes, menus and vendors. 4/

Council has spoken. We are heading into budget with one hand tied behind our back. Today’s simple motion for transaction-level spending records across all 25 business units will not be released before budget (so Council could see patterns and prioritize before locking the multi-year budget). Last November, Cllr. Ward’s amendment for a modest 2.4% cut across 5 administrative departments ($9.5M) was defeated after Admin said it wasn’t advisable. It took me 11 months to get line-by-line actuals for just 3 of those units. Clear non-priority spending was obvious and was well above the proposed 2.4%. DEFEATED 9-6. Against: Farkas, Pantazopoulos, Clark, Kelly, Schmidt, Yule, Dhaliwal, Chabot For: Jamieson, McLean, Wyness, Tyers, Ward, Johnston Taxpayers deserved the full picture. Sorry I failed. #yyccc

And Farkas said seperation is going to drive business out of Calgary?? I’d say a 95% rate hike on water usage would do a good enough job. Disastrous, this idiot needs to be recalled.

Talk is cheap. The record doesn't lie. $92M in non-core cuts came to the floor this term. The $40M cut to downtown office conversions failed 6-9. This budget is a big chance for council to finally prioritize. Not just what we spend, but what we take on as a responsibility in the first place. Roads, water, safety. Needs before wants. #yyccc
We can fix Calgary's failing infrastructure today -- or pay a much bigger bill tomorrow. We need to make tough choices and get back to basics. Join me tonight from 6 to 8pm at budget town halls with Councillors @John4ward6 and @Ward9Harrison!

CITY PUSHING NEW H2O METERS. Mine is 5 yrs old. City says it's at end of lifespan. I'm getting urgent "reminder" letters about replacing. Bylaw - THESE ARE MANDATORY. My appointment times run out in Nov. The City has taxpayers by the throat yet are responsible for all this sh*t

Andrew Knack promised densification so anyone, regardless of income, could live in any Edmonton neighbourhood. This has been a goal of his for as long as I have known him. Instead, developers built small multiplexes in thriving areas to charge the highest rents possible. Existing family rentals were sold off and replaced. The result: angry residents across 85+ neighbourhoods, fewer family homes, almost no senior or accessibility friendly options, and higher costs where people already lived affordably. Build the density downtown, at Blatchford, and along the LRT first if you truly believe there is a housing shortage. Delay any further, and I call bullshit. Spending taxpayer money on a lawsuit to preserve an infill bylaw that many residents and the province have already rejected will seriously damage Andrew Knack’s political standing and credibility.

Early morning walk with the dog in the park, downtown Calgary, 25 October 2026. Surely we can do better than this, @JeromyYYC —and I don't mean cops taking their tents or welding dividers on benches so the homeless can't sleep there. Winter's coming.

I worked DT the first few yrs and the last 18 yrs of my career. Used to love it, out at noon nearly every day. Very vibrant and fun. 2016ish it started getting iffy. By 2021 or so I drove bc the train was so bad, retired in 2023 & have never been back DT, real shame. @JeromyYYC

The wife and I went out for dinner last night at a nice place on Stephen Ave. Food was great, ambiance was awesome, that is until we stepped outside and entered “Crackville”. They literate need to rename Stephen Ave to Fentanyl Fold Place. It was bad. People openly consuming. Freaks everywhere. Made us completely uncomfortable and I can homely say I won’t be back down there anytime soon. @JeromyYYC should be completely and utterly ashamed of this state of affairs. I remember when it used to be nice to go for an evening stroll down there - now it’s become zombieville and a complete shithole. Farkas - my god man - you should be so utterly ashamed of yourself and how far you’ve let this city fall. Edmonton V. 2.0.
