Truth & Consequences: Navigating the 2026 House Legislative Session, A Rhode House Minority Report, RI Education Accountability
For too long, Rhode Island’s answer to poor education outcomes has been to spend more money, not demand better results.
Bottom Line: Unfunded state education mandates increase costs, limit local decision-making, and can pull resources from the classroom. Every child deserves a strong education, every parent deserves a voice, and every taxpayer deserves proof that education dollars are producing results.
RI spends approximately $20,315 per student, among the highest levels in the nation, yet reading and math proficiency scores remain low.
Check out the sixth chapter in our report, focused on Rhode Island Education Accountability, below.

Our first campaign ad is out! 🚁
Army helicopter pilot, combat veteran, former General Assembly member, and NASA alum John Loughlin is taking on Rhode Island’s sky-high energy bills.
From the cockpit he sees a spectacular state. On the ground, one-party politics and government rules are driving some of the highest electric costs in the country.
His plan: base rates on real costs—and cut bills in half.
Watch the ad and see why common sense starts with lower energy costs. #Loughlin4RI #LowerEnergyBills

John Loughlin showed Rhode Islanders what capable leadership looks like in this week’s Lt. Governor debate: real-world experience, practical answers, and a clear understanding of the challenges working families face.
Sabina Matos offered more of the same familiar political answers: blame Trump, blame the energy companies, blame everyone except the people running Rhode Island.
Voters can judge the contrast for themselves. I believe John Loughlin is ready to serve as Lieutenant Governor and has the experience to help move Rhode Island in a better direction.

Rhode Island doesn’t need a millionaire tax.
It needs more millionaires.
Helena Foulkes wants a 3% surcharge that jacks the top rate to 8.99% and hopes for $135–142 million.
Here’s the part they won’t say:
Cut the top rate 1–2% and double the number of millionaires living here — and Rhode Island likely raises MORE income-tax revenue than her tax.
On the order of $155 million to nearly $290 million a year. Before extra sales and property taxes.
It’s common sense.
You don’t grow a tax base by chasing success out of town.
Foulkes: “pay for it with a millionaires tax.”
“The wealthiest Rhode Islanders will pay for it.”Massachusetts already ran this play.
First full year of their surtax: $4.2 billion in income left the state. High earners drove ~70% of the loss.2,300 RI residents earn $1M+.
People making $200k+ are 7% of filers and already pay 55% of the income tax.
Punish that group, and working families get the bill when they leave.
I want a Millionaire Magnet plan: job credits for pass-through businesses and stronger charity deductions so wealth creators move HERE.
Growth over envy.
More millionaires. More jobs. More revenue.— John Loughlin, candidate for Lt. Governor
Unregistered Foreign Agents? Sounds like @LouRaptakis
Liability for Unregistered Foreign Agents: The Department of Justice would like to remind the public of federal laws that require individuals to register as foreign agents when they act in the United States at the direction or control of a foreign government or foreign principal, and that they will face civil and criminal liability if they fail to do so.
Lawful protest and independent advocacy are protected rights. But if a foreign government or foreign principal secretly directs, controls, funds, or coordinates your activity in the United States, federal disclosure laws may apply. May God Bless the United States of America.

🚨 HOLY CRAP. Democrat Stacey Abrams just admitted Democrats might lose *191* STATE LEGISLATIVE SEATS — on top of the 19-20 seats lost to the end of racial gerrymandering
It's not just Congress. State legislative districts are racially drawn, and SCOTUS just caused APOCALYPSE MODE for the left!
Abrams: "With these new maps, we know that analysis by Fair Fight and Black Voters Matters show that we could lose 19 to 20 congressional seats, but we could lose up to 191 state legislative seats!" 🔥🔥
"And in the South, those state legislators draw city council districts, county commission districts, school board districts, and they draw state legislative lines."
LFG! Another meltdown!

More of the same. "Republicans" & "the Right" are openly named for wanting the artwork. Yet those making the death threats & having petulant mental breakdowns aren't named.
I'll do it then:
The Right; wants art to honor & raise awareness.
The Left; tantrums and death threats.
What started as a mural on a Providence club has led to death threats and division. providencejournal.com/story/…

Repeal and replace Obamacare.
The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.
The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more.
But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
