tbh one of the reasons i like old fandoms like hannibal and star trek is that the people who are still in it are fairly chill and tend to know fandom etiquette. like i love heated rivalry but won't touch that fandom with a 10 feet pole.

can we go back to gatekeeping normies I feel like this is what happens when a niche thing becomes too mainstream, it reaches people who don't understand/don't want to understand the essence of the spaces they enter so now we have ppl either complaining about things in ao3 that's

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen knew each other for nearly 50 years before becoming close friends on the set of X-Men.
Around that time, Sir Patrick passed on the role of Gandalf, which his good friend would go on to make his own. In a later interview he stated “My dear friend Ian McKellen became a living legend with his performance as Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings.”
The two will appear together one final time in Avengers: Doomsday. ❤️

We’re saddened to learn Sir Patrick Stewart has died at the age of 86. We’ll never forget his Shoey with Daniel Ricciardo.
Rest in Peace.

Something is DEEPLY wrong in the HR fandom.
"Queer men staying in the closet forever, never being able to live & love openly, & never changing the toxic homophobic culture of professional hockey is such a good happy ending!"
Oh y'all are REALLY here for the sex & NOTHING else.

I don’t think I have words to explain how disgusting and homophobic this writer and the commenters are….
it’s apparently bad etiquette to write ‘reviews’ for fics but I couldn’t care less if this is the kind of stuff your posting.

the way they're talking about Shane's life being in danger ... when in actuality it's always been ILYA'S LIFE that would have been in danger from coming out ... the way they're giving Ilya's issues to Shane as well just to victimise him more.... love that

Harvey Milk said that ‘if a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door.’ The eradication of the closet has been an ambition of queer liberation movements since forever. I’m saddened that there are people framing its endurance as a happy ending.
The Heated Rivalry FD is filled with the lowest scums you'll ever find in the face of earth bcz as already pointed out the way this fd is obsessed in projecting a Victim of child abuse who grew up traumatized to an extent falling into depression as an ABUSER is inhuman

Whenever we lose a person to suicide everyone say things like “He should have spoken up” but whenever people open up about their mental health issues they are called desperate or attention seekers

No puedes herir a alguien que ha leído a Tolstói, Dostoievski, Kafka, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard y Camus por diversión. Su serotonina abandonó el chat hace años.

This is actually infuriating and makes my hope for the handling of Ilya's arc plummet.
