ANY WOMAN WHO GETS STAINED ON HER PERIOD IS STUPID, ARE YOU A BABY?
The other day, i shared a boda with a lady going to town, i didn’t know her coz I boarded from the Bank of Uganda stage heading to Kireka
when we reached Banda, she was getting off, the boda guy parked well to the side, i got off first, but I noticed my trousers were slightly wet when the lady stepped down, she had badly stained herself
u could see the panic on her face, i quickly removed my sweater & gave it to her so she could wrap it around her waist, i took out my handkerchief & wiped the boda seat
before anyone could notice much, the lady quickly disappeared, i never saw which side she took, after she left, the boda rider said a statement I will never forget
“Any woman who gets stained on her period is stupid, Are you a baby?
meanwhile the other boda riders nearby were nodding their heads like professors in a subject they have never studied
the rider even went ahead & said the lady had cursed his day coz such a thing had never happened on his boda
i told him something he probably had never heard before, women’s bodies are different, hormones are different, some women bleed heavily & have to change pads many times a day, others may not bleed as much, some women faint during their periods, some get severe cramps & even get admitted to hospital, others manage to go through the day like everything is normal, periods are not something a woman can switch on & off like the new Umeme, it is a moment when women actually need more support, not insults
i have also even seen men host ladies in their homes & when the lady starts her period, the man begins complaining
“why did she come when she knew she was almost in her days?” I feel disgusted
but wat many men don’t understand is that the menstrual cycle can change suddenly, it’s not something women fully control, just like our ceremonial government ministers
so instead of shaming women, we should understand them, i felt I should use this Women’s Day to create a little awareness among men about the menstrual cycle
Sometimes wat a woman needs in that moment is not judgment, It is simply understanding
Happy Women’s Day ❤️❤️🫶🏿

Looking forward to the cooperation with @UMWAandMamaFM and will be excited to see more survivor-sensitive media reporting.
We are delighted to sign a new grant agreement with the Uganda Media Women’s Association (UMWA) for an intervention to strengthen media responsiveness to gender & social inclusion and to ensure improved reporting of stories related to violence against women and girls.@AustrianDev

I can't believe that I'm tuning my frequency away from a radio station I have religiously listened to for the last 15 years to @933kfm because of @Faizafabz. The only thing that will hold me back is that Saturday morning show.
We must support those who identify with us!

Earlier today, we addressed the press as Shadow Cabinet, communicating our objection to the idea of the planned Regional sittings of Parliament in different parts of the country as announced by the Speaker.
Each of the four planned sittings is to cost about 5bn shs. It does not make logical or even economic sense to transport the entire Parliament and staff for such sittings, plus all the other logistics. We can have the sittings in our chambers at Parliament as usual, and still deliberate for the good of all the different regions without spending that money to go there.
What people in the North, West, East and Central need is functional hospitals, good roads, and proper service delivery generally, not a visit from 529 MPs moreover at that huge cost. Besides, committees of Parliament can always play their oversight roles in the different regions and report back to the bigger Parliament as has always been the practice.

These days, you tweet something, and the next day, without even consulting you, some newspaper or blog has published it as an article you authored for their paper!
Journalists, is this ethical?
Lawyers, is it legal?

You kept us millennials and our parents in fear of Kony and past regimes, naye bano?
What are you going to lie to them? Nti Amin and Lakwena will return if you leave power? Nti you attacked and killed sleeping sickness??! Wapi! 🤣🤣
Approaches have to change. Mutual respect and focus on nation building and accountability have to override everything. Stories won’t sell to the younger ones who have only seen 1/3 of your regime and have neither food for tomorrow nor hope.

Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu.
Greetings. I want to congratulate the Armed Forces and the Security Forces and the Wanainchi, for foiling or not participating in the bad demonstration that was planned for Tuesday.
That demonstration, had two bad elements. Element no.1, was funding from foreign sources that are always meddling in the internal affairs of Africa for the last 600 years ─ slave trade, colonialism, neo-colonialism, genocide, economic exploitation, etc. All those involved, should know that Uganda is not a neo-colony where those shallow schemes can be deployed.
The second element, was that some of the authors and participants of the demonstrations, were planning very bad things against the people of Uganda. Those very bad things, will come out in court when those arrested are being tried. It is possible, that some of the participants, did not know of the planned foreign funding and the planned bad things. That is why, they should have listened to the police advice, not to go on with the demonstration. But they rubbished the police advice.
Otherwise, if it was a patriotic, anti-corruption, peaceful demonstration, co-ordinated with the Police, I would have been the first to join.
