Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks.
Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. wapo.st/4yt6dHY

One of the world's greatest and bravest journalists, full stop. Solidarity.
In an absolutely egregious escalation against press freedom, Egyptian journalist and @MadaMasr Editor-in-Chief @Linaattalah has been referred to trial on charges of establishing, managing, and operating a website without a license. Her trial is set to begin this Tuesday, Oct 27.

Less than a month after arresting the entire Matsadaash newsroom, the Egyptian govt has now filed baseless charges against the editor-in-chief of Mada Masr, continuing their largest crackdown in years.
This assault on the free press must end NOW. Journalism is not a crime.
CPJ condemns the referral of @MadaMasr Editor-in-Chief Lina Attalah to trial for operating a website without a license that Egyptian authorities have themselves refused to grant for years. Egypt is weaponizing its media law to punish independent journalism and intensify one of its worst crackdowns on the press in years, which began with the arrest of six Matsdaash journalists. It is long past time for Egypt to end this campaign and allow independent media to report freely.

The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

I welcome the Sakharov Prize awarded to the International Criminal Court.
For victims of the world's gravest crimes, justice means a voice.
The @IntlCrimCourt must be free to pursue its mission, independently, and without pressure or intimidation.
Europe stands firmly behind President Tomoko Akane, the Court's judges and officials, and their vital work for a world governed by rules.

In a taped message, Christianne Amanpour tells viewers of her CNN International show “Amanpour” that she is leaving the network.
While she hewed fairly closely to her statement, she added this: “You know that I’ve always been fiercely independent, and I will continue to be that for you for as long as I am here and beyond. That’s especially important today as we face unprecedented pressures from all sides — political, financial, and also from the rising dangers in the field.”
Media blaming is the name of the game. No matter what, find a way to smear journalists.
PS I’ve met Putin many times and listened in on calls with him as well. I also speak Russian. Yes he is soft spoken, deliberate, and measured. So what? He’s still a killer. He still launched a barbaric invasion of Ukraine, that has produced tragic loss of life not seen on this scale in Europe since WWII.

The facts are available for all who want to see. Stop lying, deflecting and smearing. Just #EndImpunity.
The IDF provided cover, with tear gas and machine guns, while the settlers beat @washingtonpost journalist Heidi Levine nearly to death. Then the IDF shot a Palestinian bystander, and aimed their guns and shoved the paramedics who were trying to treat him. All of this documented.
The facts are available for all who want to see them. Just stop deflecting and #EndImpunity.
Secretary Marco Rubio on attack on WaPo:
"First, obviously, we've seen the video, we've seen the media reporting about it. We have a process to handle these sorts of things, and if in fact it turns out to be what it appears was, you know that we have ways of communicating that to the Israelis about how we expect what that we would expect of them to prevent that from happening in the future. Again, the president doesn't want to see a crisis in the West Bank. We don't need that right now. Israel doesn't need that"
