I started out as a 1st year associate in a BigLaw firm at age 47. Billed like crazy, nearly killed me. There were several partners there that I considered dear friends.
After 5 years I had an opportunity at a boutique firm where the pay was much less but so were the hours. It was clearly the right move for me personally.
Once I announced, those partner "friends" I thought I had started treating me like garbage. Turns out they never saw me as a friend, they just saw me as a commodity to be used until I could be used no longer.
I should have know better but I was operating under the idea of loyalty that I had learned in the Army.
I learned my lesson and felt foolish.
BigLaw is a well-paying cancer.

My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will:
1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate.
2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority.
3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority.
This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word.
All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.

A car flew last night. An actual car, flipping in midair on cold gas thrusters and landing on its wheels. Elon Musk's companies built a sports car that does what science fiction promised for a century. The same man lands rockets on barges and builds the machines that carry our astronauts. That is what one free mind, and the thousands of minds he employs, can produce.
Bernie Sanders says billionaires should not exist. He looks at the man who makes cars fly and concludes the problem to solve is that such men keep too much of what they create. He has spent five decades in government producing nothing, yet he claims the moral authority to dispose of the men who produce everything. A man who seeks unearned control over the lives and property of others is corrupt in the fullest meaning of the word, and that corruption runs deeper than any bribe.

SpaceX can catch a rocket. Delta can't land you at JFK on time, makes you rawdog the flight, and loses your bag.
Amazon gets you a package in 4 hours. The DMV needs 6 weeks for a license.
AI can pass the bar exam. Public schools can't teach kids how to do basic math.
Your watch can detect AFib. Your insurance needs 3 weeks to approve a visit.
Your car can spot a pedestrian and brake on its own. Your city can't keep needles off the sidewalk.
AI can design a new protein. Your hospital can't send you a correct bill.
AI can draw a building in minutes. The city takes three years to approve a duplex.
Satellites and cameras can track a car across the city. A man with 30 arrests walks out the next morning.

The top 1% earned 21% of the income and paid 38% of the income tax.
The bottom half earned 12% and paid 3%.
The top 10% carried 70% of the entire federal income tax. It can’t get any more progressive than this.
“Tax the rich” already happened. The rich are the tax base, and they still get told they don’t pay their fair share.
Which is why they’re now moving to expropriating wealth.
