Advocates must immediately down tools until our colleague is found. Business as usual is over. If he committed any crime, he should have been arrested and charged not abducted and made to disappear.
How do we, as a nation, in theory governed under the Rule of Law and the 2010 Constitution with Human Rights, especially the Right to Life and the requirement to produce in Court an arrested person within 24 hours, normalise these continuing abductions and extrajudicial executions?
Release this young Lawyer Abshir A.Abdi immediately or charge him in Court. Abductions are by State Agencies, as we all know...

That Wakili Abshir is barely a year into practice should heighten LSK’s concern. Young advocates already face formidable barriers. Safety in line of duty must never become another. LSK must ensure fear has no place in the Bar. A fearful Bar is the breeding ground of tyranny.
The annexures to the Habeas Corpus Application for Wakili Abshir paints a gruesome picture. They intimidated him for his work by detaining him. Then they resorted to abducting him.

Yesterday in court, IG Douglas Kanja emphatically told the court that Kenya is safe because we all left our homes and arrived safely in court.
But Abshir did not. He has not been to court, or home or anywhere the last 4 days.
Kenya is not safe for anyone!

The good news is that this morning the LSK has sent us a paper tiger 4 days after the abduction of our colleague, saying exactly what we all know, and nothing else.

Ordinarily we should have all downed our tools until the safe return of our colleague. This includes all Advocates, Judicial Officers and Judges, who are Advocates first. Our colleague's life may be on the line and we are behaving as if all is normal?

Justice Muya certified it urgent, but it will be heard on Monday.
How urgent is an application that is supposed to guarantee the subject’s best chances of being found alive if it is heard 8 DAYS AFTER they’re taken?
That was poorly considered on the court’s part.
The family of wakili Abshir filed a habeas corpus application but because it did not have the institutional backing of LSK @LawSocietyofKe Justice Muya fixed it for mention next week Monday. By then who knows what could have happened?
LSK should get its act together and stand firmly to protect advocates. LSK must file an urgent application to stress just how serious this matter is and @Kenyajudiciary must also treat the matter of abduction of advocate Abshir seriously!

Advocate, Abshir was abducted on the morning of 1st November at 4.40 AM. He has been held incommunicado for 73 hours as at 6.00AM today.
That is 50 hours past the constitutional limit of 24 hours! An advocate of the High Court.
How much lower can a state sink? If you see this just amplify and DEMAND for the unconditional release of wakili Abshir Abdi!

It cannot be business as usual when any Kenyan is abducted, leave alone an advocate of the High Court.
Advocate, Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi was abducted on 1/11/26 along Muchai Drive. His motor vehicle was recovered on the same road. The incident was at Kilimani Police Station - 55/1/11/2026 .
Reports from people who witnessed the incident, indicate he was pursued by 2 motor vehicles, a Prado TX and a double cab. The occupants of those vehicles had guns and 2 were in what seemed like police uniform and bullet proof vests.
The abduction is linked to a case he’s involved in against some senior police officers & he’s been subjected to various intimidation tactics prior to this incident.
All KENYANS must now stand in solidarity with lawyers at this time. We have stood with Kenyans, selflessly, free of charge. It is time for Kenyans to pay back in Kind.
We should all peacefully hold a procession to Vigilance House demanding the release of the Abducted Advocate forthwith!
