playing fever dream on a $299 speaker is a vibe

Sometimes I just scratch my head and wonder what the folks at apple are thinking. The wall mounted solution is the same price, no speaker/base, and you need to purchase the wall mount separately. 🤔

If you can't explain why you need it in one sentence, $300 is a tough sell. Same rule on a car lot.

Made me think of the display in the luce 👀

I’m convinced this guy gets paid to be just tough enough on Apple to make the praise seem credible.

bro they literally just slapped an ipad mini on a smart speaker and called it a day

Apple could have added a mag-safe arm onto its HomePod and let us use iPhone or iPad instead.

Hey Marques make sure to test the Homeview’s compatibility with the new Polishing Cloth 😭

It looks like a massive Apple Watch glued to a HomePod.

The biggest issue with this is that Siri still sucks. If Siri were really good and can be be a real intelligent agent then this would be much more compelling.

For $300, the light switch should walk over and press itself.

Yeah absolutely. It’s a great device and everything. But for that price. Nah

This is a dumb product. I'm guessing there might be 2 more generations and then it's dead.

I was excited at first but realized it's NOT what we waited for. We wanted HomePod + iPad.

The worst sin is that the Apple TV 4K is $299…same price at this

It's worthy $300, but the wall mounted version should be cheaper. How are both versions going for the same price? Apple is becoming too greedy under ternus for margins. I can't even fathom the pricing of the new Apple TV.

They should make this but for individuals. Like, little handheld devices that do all of this and maybe even add some communication protocols and third party apps. ‘HandView’, maybe?

Can’t wait for Apple to sell us on reducing bezels 50% on next years model and acting like they invented fire 🔮

Apple announced a square iPad mini today that comes with a stand. Pretty innovative stuff.

How much should a small iPad on a HomePod cost?
281
at $300 it has to replace something in the house, not just sit next to the phone that already does all of it

Hard to get excited for $300?? I paid $450 for the ass turd Google Hub Max, laggy out of the box, like a 2013 binned processor. Functional, but it should be as fluid as this. The only thing missing for me is a security cam option on it.

What gets me is that this includes a screen and costs the same as the new Apple TV. (I was looking forward to upgrading to the new Apple TV…but not a double the price!)

Yeah. I feel the same.way about. if you already have a newer phone Pro max, that I'd feel its safe to say that you're probably not too far off from getting the same experuance. I'm really not hating on it, so if you can afford it then Imo It's great buy.

The iPad at launch was just a giant iPhone. This looks like it's just a giant Apple Watch face attached to a speaker.
17
They need to get rid of those who came up with and developed this product idea. Why would anyone control the cameras from Homeview when there is a phone? So dumb.
80
I honestly don’t get why this product exist. Seems pretty redundant!
13
What’s the difference with sticking an iPad to the wall?
29
Looks like low effort play school crap

worked on this 10 years ago at amazon with Alexa/Echo Show/smarthome. :) Still want to check out in person. Good review. thx

Does it do anything my wall tablet doesn't?
21
The only people I know who use these gadgets were gifted them out of nowhere. They sit plugged in and unused. If we didn’t have phones strapped to us all the time it would make a lot more sense. I just don’t understand the use case.

I feel the same way about some of those background apps… (Okay had to poke a little bit)

$299 for a screen that does less than the phone already in your hand. who's mounting one?
