From 2019-23, I spent a lot of time in hospital seeing my family members lose their lives. We were a family of six, and now we are just two.
It took me a lot of time to smile again, as my mind used to be full of negativity, and seeing lifeless bodies became a normal sight.
Their argument -“If we can’t drive here, the entire justice system collapses.” LOL !
Hospitals, factories, private offices…all somehow less essential. Is a 2014 diesel car suddenly less polluting coz its owner wears a black coat? The air doesn’t check your Bar Council ID before entering your lungs. Yet somehow, only black coats get a free pass from Justice Amit Mahajan. Some citizens are clearly more equal than others in this country.

-Movie: 10/10
-Jatayu vs Ravan battle: 11/10. I’m going to watch it one more time just for that
-And Kumbhakarna’s intro and depiction goddamn
-VFX: 10/10. Every frame is wallpaper material. The CGI of Airavat, Pushpak Viman, Jatayu, and the Rakshasas was so perfect
-Soundtrack: 8/10. Hans Zimmer lived up to his reputation. AR Rahman could have done better
-Budget and hype are justified. Whatever creative liberties they have taken are also justified
-They didn’t distort history or the scriptures. I haven’t read the Valmiki Ramayana, but my grandmother has. She used to read it every evening and tell me every detail. The movie has those details
-Ravan isn’t glorified. He killed his sister’s husband in front of her just because he called him a das (slave)
-The only issue was a bit of odd casting. Surpanakha and Mandodari (as Rakshasis) were prettier than Goddess Sita. The dialogues in some parts felt like a lazy effort. Lakshman saying “Dhanush tha toot gaya to toot gaya, isme itna krodhit hone ki kya aavasyakta hai” to Lord Parshuram is so off like wth😭. Lord Parshuram’s anger is also loosely captured
-They could have also shown a bit of Maharaj Dasharatha’s backstory, like him and Kaikeyi fighting for Lord Indra in the Dandaka forest, and the curse of Shravana’s father, which is the foundation of the Ramayana
-They took 4 years to make Part 1, so the effort is clearly visible. The next part will be released after 2 years. I believe it will be epic
-Overall, a must-watch. Outraged people need to take a break over this masterpiece

I understand disagreements over casting, actors, actresses and creative choices. Those conversations are natural. But what I cannot understand is the eagerness to ridicule an entire project before watching it, sometimes crossing the line into mocking our own scriptures.
People questioned Jatayu’s presence, his association with Dasharath ji and kept asking, “Yeh kab hua tha?” Many making these jokes hadn’t even bothered to understand Valmiki Ramayana. A written epic and a visual adaptation are two different storytelling mediums. Context sometimes has to be established visually.
Our Itihas deserves more than the half-hearted adaptations we have seen in the past, with compromised budgets, limited ambition and visuals that fail to communicate the grandeur of our glorious past. We need filmmakers willing to dream big, invest big and take these stories to the world. With an Oscar-winning VFX powerhouse like DNEG involved, this is a significant cinematic moment.
I understand that not every filmmaker will be familiar to us, and not every creative decision will immediately appeal to everyone. Sometimes, we have to allow people the space to surprise us.
From what I have seen and heard so far, the attempt has been to present the story with dignity and respect for our sentiments. And that matters.
A film like this doesn’t come along every day. It is a rare opportunity to see our civilisation’s greatest story envisioned on a global cinematic canvas.
Watch it in cinemas. Take your children along. This is an experience meant for the big screen, not just snippets watched on a phone. Let them see, understand and become curious about the stories that shaped our civilisation.
And while you are at it, pick up Valmiki Ramayana. Read it yourself, encourage your children to read it too. A cinematic experience can spark curiosity, but understanding our scriptures is a journey we must undertake ourselves.
We can have our criticisms, but let us not become so cynical that we forget to celebrate when someone actually attempts something this ambitious with our own stories.
I would rather see a hundred attempts to take our Itihas to the world than see it remain confined to conversations within our own homes.
Some stories deserve to be told. Some deserve to be retold. And some deserve to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Accident just opened the bag full of unaccounted money. Diwali is when cash moves the most. Gifts, under-invoiced deals, money that never enters the books.
You can’t keep corrupting and expect to live in peace. If you don’t do right by people, life doesn’t go right for you. Sooner or later, it catches up.
My mother is built different for Diwali ki safai. Mann kare toh karo, mann na kare toh mat karo, stop midway.. do whatever you feel like. A total cleanliness freak but no forcing herself or anyone else. highkey the coolest. Over the years she consciously learnt that festival pressure makes no sense. Happy dhanteras :)

As per the initial reviews of Ramayana, film’s strongest character is Ravana and there is a fair bit of white-washing of his image. No wonder the lead actress was all praises about Ravana few days ago. Mockery of our dharma. Pathetic by even Bollywood standards.

if you own a BS4 car registered in UP or Haryana, you cannot enter Delhi between 1 November and 31 January, even if the car is in perfectly good condition and you have all the required documents, including a valid pollution certificate issued in Delhi.
But apparently, the same car stops being a pollution concern for the remaining nine months of the year. Make it make sense.

Collective AC use in India on a single peak summer day generates over 20 times more CO₂ emissions than the entire nation bursts on Diwali night. Observe at least one no AC use day in a year. 90 minutes of routine traffic across the country is enough to match the entire greenhouse gas footprint of Diwali night. Observe two hours of no automobile use on any one day on the calendar. Similarly 8 hours of collective internet usage in India generates an equal carbon footprint through our coal reliant digital grid. Let us collectively observe an 8 hour digital fast and give ourselves a breath of fresh air. There are a lot of options but a person’s first instinct would be to see a problem in traditions she has learnt to hate.

Just reminding that a few ‘RW’ handles promoting Ramayan were involved in the Narad scam- the iPhone one and also in some Amir khan movie - some remake ! Many times some of them have put out fake info , been slapped by FIRs
My advice - mark them and don’t trust them or RT them
