A corrupt system attracts corrupt people. An honest system attracts honest people. But a bad system can slowly corrupt even good, honest people if degenerate political parties exert their negative influence. Jo’burg residents will be staring at that choice on 4 Nov. Another coalition is predicted. Be prepared for it. Coalitions make it harder to fix things quickly because everyone has to compromise and the wrong people still get influence: Remember, the Patriotic Alliance, a small insignificant party, became kingmakers in 2021! Look at Tshwane. The current setup has had real problems with water and infrastructure. Weak leadership and messy coalitions with corrupt officials don’t fix broken systems no matter how good of a person Nasiphi Moya is. She made a deal with scoundrels & is paying the price. We need a strong mayor who will actually break the chains of corruption & fix the broken systems in Jo’burg. No one else has proven they can do it, only Helen Zille has. She has the track record. She understands that competent & good governance comes first I am not going to tell you to vote DA but you should vote for parties that are aligned to her vision to help her. A strong mayor needs enough support to govern properly. Don’t vote for parties that are corrupt & work against Zille to put her in the opposition benches. One capable mayor, with an outright majority or the right coalition, can shift incentives and the decline in a municipality with the hope of reversing the downward spiral Jhb is experiencing. Jo’burg is stuck in the vicious cycle right now. The current coalition (ANC, EFF, ActionSA, PA, AIC , IFP and Al Jama-ah) has had years of instability, wasted money and continues to ignore failing infrastructure. Those same players aren’t going to suddenly change to fix the system. They are comfortable and too weak to address the dysfunction Helen Zille has a record of making the basics work and she is not intimidated & won’t be bullied by the people who are benefiting from the current mess. Zille is the one who can start shifting Joburg toward a virtuous cycle by putting competent people in charge, restructuring systems , ring fencing money for water & electricity infrastructure to rebuild Joburg . On 4 November we choose which company this city keeps. Remember: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
